Abstract

This research intends to provide insight on the relationship between instructional leadership and organizational commitment, with a specific emphasis on the timeframe spanning from 2009 to 2023. Using the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) approach, this study conducted a systematic search of academic databases, including Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, and ERIC. The search produced a large selection of papers, reviews, and articles about organizational commitment and instructional leadership. The analysis demonstrated the critical role that the impact of instructional leadership on organizational commitment played by using an advanced search strategy involving keywords, such as “instructional leadership,” “educational leadership,” “school leadership,” “organizational commitment,” “employee commitment,” and “workplace commitment.” The review identified three main themes from the final dataset, which included 33 items. These themes were: i) instructional leadership and teachers; ii) organizational commitment and school leadership styles; and iii) leadership in diverse educational contexts. The key themes were then validated by experts. The analysis reveals school leaders’ potential contributions to organizational commitment, which has consequences for educational leadership and management.

Abstract

In the evolving landscape of education, strategic planning has emerged as a critical tool for enhancing institutional performance and achieving educational excellence. This systematic literature review aims to explore the intricate link between strategic planning and educational performance by synthesizing findings from a diverse array of studies. The review addresses the pressing need for a structured approach to improving educational outcomes. To achieve this, we conducted an extensive search of scholarly articles from reputable databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, focusing on studies published between 2020 and 2024. The flow of the study based on the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) framework. The database found (n=28) final primary data was analyzed. The finding was divided into three themes which are: i) competency development and assessment in education; ii) strategic planning and management in higher education; and iii) technological integration and innovation in education. The results highlight the significance of implementing a comprehensive and flexible framework for strategic planning that aligns with the specific requirements and environments of educational institutions. In conclusion, this research offers insightful information to educators, administrators and policymakers who want to use strategic planning to support long-term improvements in student performance and eventually advance the larger objective of educational excellence.

Abstract

This systematic literature review investigates the development of anintegrated science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)leadership model tailored for middle leaders in Malaysian schools. Theintroduction highlights the global emphasis on STEM education to fosterinnovation and economic growth, while acknowledging Malaysia’scommitment to enhancing STEM capabilities within its educational system.The problem statement identifies a gap in effective STEM leadership amongmiddle leaders, which is critical for implementing STEM initiatives andimproving student outcomes. To achieve this, we conducted an extensivesearch of scholarly articles from reputable databases such as Scopus and Webof Science (WoS), focusing on studies published between 2021 and 2024. Theflow of study is based on PRISMA framework. The database found (n=34)final primary data was analyzed. The finding was divided into three themeswhich are i) STEM education policy and implementation; ii) leadership inSTEM educational; iii) professional development in STEM education. Theconclusion emphasizes the need for a specialized leadership model thatincorporates instructional leadership principles, fosters professionaldevelopment, and supports collaborative practices among middle leaders. Thisintegrated model aims to address the unique challenges faced by middleleaders in Malaysian schools, ultimately enhancing STEM education andcontributing to Malaysia’s educational and economic aspirations.

Abstract

Strategic educational planning is essential for adapting to the evolving landscape of education, driven by socio-economic, technological and exceptional global health crisis. This systematic literature review explores the complex challenges and opportunities in strategic educational planning, synthesizing insights from diverse studies to provide a comprehensive understanding. The problem statement addresses the necessity for effective strategic planning to ensure educational resilience, quality and inclusivity amidst changing external conditions. To achieve this, we conducted an extensive search of scholarly articles from reputable databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, focusing on studies published between 2020 and 2024. The flow of study based on preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) framework. The database found (n=33) final primary data was analyzed. The finding was divided into three themes which is: i) educational strategies and innovations; ii) organizational and strategic management in education; and iii) impact and adaptation to external challenges in education. The review indicate that strategic educational planning must prioritize flexibility, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement to navigate future challenges effectively. This review underscores the fundamental role of strategic planning in transforming educational systems to be more adaptive, inclusive and forward-thinking, ultimately enhancing their capacity to meet the diverse needs of learners in an ever-changing global context.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between followership and three dimensions of organizational commitment: affective, normative and continuance among primary school teachers in Sarawak, Malaysia. Research on how followership behaviours affect employee commitment is weak despite increased understanding of their role in organisational success. To fill this gap, the study surveyed 899 primary school teachers using the revised kelley followership questionnaire (KFQ-R) and the three-component model employee commitment survey (TCM-ECS). Data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results demonstrate significant positive relationships between followership and all three commitment dimensions, with the strongest association observed for affective commitment (β=0.564, p0.001), followed by normative commitment (β=0.388, p0.001) and continuance commitment (β=0.337, p0.001). These findings suggest that effective follower behaviors significantly enhance employees’ emotional attachment, sense of obligation and perceived cost of leaving their organizations. Although this is cross-sectional research, it adds to our understanding of how followership may assist establish organizational loyalty. It also suggests that organizations may be able to increase employee commitment by teaching people how to follow others.
