Abstract

Occupational safety is one of the important aspects in the industrial world, especially in companies that have a high potential risk of work accidents. In Indonesia, plantation companies such as PTPN IV Regional I Kebun Ambalutu, which is engaged in the oil palm plantation sector, face major challenges in maintaining employee safety. This study aims to analyze risk management concerning employee safety at PTPN IV Regional I Kebun Ambalutu. Using observational methods during an internship program, the author participated in various activities, including preparing documents for external audits, conducting safety awareness campaigns for the local community, and contributing to tasks in the Certification System Department (DSS). The analysis reveals that the company has effectively implemented risk management practices for employee safety through measures such as workplace accident investigations, employee training and safety education, and the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE). In addition, although safety training has been conducted, some employees feel less prepared to deal with more complex emergency situations. This commitment not only enhances employee well-being but also contributes to improved productivity and operational sustainability.

Abstract

Service MSMEs are no longer just complementary, but have become key actors in the local economic ecosystem. They are able to adapt quickly to market changes, develop innovative services, and make significant contributions to regional economic growth. However, behind this great potential, service MSMEs still face a number of complex structural challenges. This research aims to comprehensively explore the strategic role of service MSMEs in driving local economic growth. Through in-depth analysis that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, this study seeks to map contributions, identify success factors, and formulate practical recommendations for the development of service MSMEs. The method that will be used in this research is a qualitative approach. The qualitative approach method is one way to collect and analyze data that focuses on a deep understanding of social phenomena or human behavior. With the right support, service MSMEs can become the main foundation for a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable local economy.

Abstract

This study analyzes risk management in Crude Palm Oil (CPO) production with a case study at PTPN IV Regional I PKS Sei Silau. Palm oil is a major commodity in Sumatra with a significant contribution to the Indonesian economy, where this industry contributes 3.5% of the total national GDP and 13.5% of non-oil and gas exports. The purpose of the study was to identify risks in CPO production and determine risk management strategies. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through interviews and direct observation. Risk analysis was carried out using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method to identify, analyze, and evaluate risks. The results of the study showed five main sources of risk in CPO production, namely: shortage of FFB raw materials (18), sorting FFB with raw fruit (12), machine damage (60), delays in the production process (6), and substandard CPO quality (24). The mitigation strategies implemented include optimizing production machines, regular training for employees, and strict supervision during the production and distribution process. The implementation of these strategies has reduced raw material shortages by 30% and increased production efficiency. This study concludes that the systematic application of risk management can improve operational smoothness and the quality of CPO products.
