Abstract

PT. Tjakrindo Mas is a manufacturing company based in Indonesia that supports the government, industrial, public, and private sectors. Established in 1984, the company produces home furniture made from various types of wood. During the period from December 2023 to May 2024, the company faced production issues with its furniture products. According to production scheduling data, the furniture production intensity was high, operating 5 days a week. During this period, the highest production rate was for the 2 Door Glass Wardrobe, totaling 5,638 units. However, despite the high production volume, the defect rate for the 2 Door Glass Wardrobe was also high, with 498 defective units, representing a defect rate of 8.83%, which exceeds the company's tolerance standard. The objective of this study is to assess the quality of the Glass Wardrobe product at PT. Tjakrindo Mas and to propose improvements to enhance the product quality. Observations identified that the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) was associated with the close side rail rupture defect, caused by the operator not being careful when installing the close side rail to the cabinet body, and the work methods used not in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Recommendations for quality control proposals based on the high RPN value of FMEA Close Side Rail Rupture is to provide supervision and guidance to workers, and Provide briefing to operators about methods that are in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) used by the company.

Abstract

Optimal warehouse layout planning plays an important role in improving operational efficiency and productivity of a company. PT XYZ faces problems in the form of an unorganized warehouse layout, causing increased search time for goods and material movement. This study aims to redesign the warehouse layout by applying the Class Based Storage (CBS) and Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) methods. The CBS method is used to classify products based on the level of goods turnover (fast-moving, medium-moving, and slow-moving), while the SLP method helps redesign the layout by considering material flow and operational activities. The results of the study indicate that the application of both methods succeeded in designing a more organized warehouse layout, reducing material movement distance, and minimizing search time for goods. Thus, the combination of the Class Based Storage and Systematic Layout Planning methods can be used as an effective approach to improving warehouse governance at PT XYZ.

Abstract

Urban aquaculture, like urban farming, entails using aquaculture technology to transform tiny, previously unutilized pieces of land in highly inhabited metropolitan areas into a useful area. Urban aquaculture, in broad terms, can be defined as the fish farming on small plots of land. Depending on the sort of consumable fish commodity to be grown, urban aquaculture can be implemented through home aquaculture and community aquaculture utilizing a variety of techniques. Creating a mandatory product involves the stages of development and design. At this stage, all product components, production costs, design, and assembly time are taken into account. Through sustainable product design and evaluation, it is possible to address the assembly performance and difficulties in the assembly process, as well as assembly time and costs. The design and development of this product use the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) method. DFMA is a method used to determine the product design with the best time and cost. In general, this method can also be used in development to improve the quality and measure the improvement of urban aquaculture product designs. It is hoped that urban aquaculture will provide an alternative product design to achieve high-quality products and low production costs.
