Abstract

This study aims to describe the process and results of learning through structuring the play environment that can increase learning motivation for children aged 5-6 years at Taman Kanak-Kanak B Miftahussalam, Bekasi. The research subjects consisted of 15 children, and this study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of initial observations showed that children's learning motivation was still low, characterized by a lack of enthusiasm, active involvement, and curiosity during the learning process. Through the arrangement of a more interesting and interactive play environment, it is expected to create a pleasant learning atmosphere and encourage children to more actively participate in learning activities. This study uses the Kemmis and Taggart model of classroom action research design, which includes planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed an increase in children's learning motivation after the arrangement of the play environment was carried out, with children becoming more excited, enthusiastic, and actively asking questions. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of structuring the play environment in the early childhood learning process, which can have a positive impact on their learning motivation. This research is expected to make a positive contribution to the development of more effective learning methods in early childhood education and become a reference for teachers and future researchers.

Abstract

Indonesia is currently facing a moral crisis, making character education from an early age an urgent necessity. Teachers hold a strategic role in this process, not only as educators but also as role models, mentors, motivators, evaluators, and partners of parents. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in shaping the character of early childhood students at PAUD TKIT Nuralima, Majalaya District, Karawang Regency. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the principal and teachers as research subjects. Data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was tested using triangulation techniques. The findings reveal that teachers consistently perform their roles in character formation. As role models, teachers habituate children to practice religious values, use polite language, and dress modestly. As mentors, teachers guide children toward independence through daily routines such as taking off shoes, arranging bags, and praying before lessons. Their role as motivators is evident in the use of praise and simple rewards, while evaluation is carried out through observations and progress notes. Collaboration with parents further strengthens the success of character education. In conclusion, the teacher’s role is highly significant and aligns with the competencies stated in Regulation of the Minister of National Education No. 16 of 2007, as well as the national education goals outlined in Law No. 20 of 2003. The implication is that strengthening the teacher’s role and school–parent collaboration is the key to successful early childhood character education. education.

Abstract

Letter recognition ability is one of the essential aspects of early literacy development in young children; however, many still experience difficulties in mastering this skill. This condition requires innovative learning that is both creative and interactive. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of lettercard stringing activities in improving the letter recognition ability of children aged 5–6 years at PAUD A. Sopyan Karawang. The research employed classroom action research conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were group B children, and data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively and with simple quantitative calculations. The results indicated an improvement in children’s letter recognition ability from an average of 69.44% in the first cycle to 81.71% in the second cycle, accompanied by an increase in teacher activity from 68.05% to 84.72%. These findings show that lettercard stringing activities can enhance children’s cognitive skills in recognizing letters while also developing fine motor skills, concentration, and active participation in learning. The study concludes that letter-card stringing is effective as a creative learning strategy to improve letter recognition ability in early childhood education.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to help children improve their cognitive abilities using nature-based media. Classroom Action Research (CAR) is a two-cycle research methodology. The research approach is divided into four series of actions that take place in each cycle: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. This research is a collaboration between the researcher and the classroom teacher. The data for this study are based on observations, field notes, and recordings of children's cognitive capacities using nature-based media. This study involved instructors, namely seven children from Group B of Nurulzullam PAUD in Cicangor Village. The data analysis technique includes a comparative approach, which compares children's general abilities with targeted indicators for each cycle. The findings of this study imply that nature-based media improves children's cognitive capacities. Children's cognitive capacities increased by 30% in the pre-cycle, 40% in cycle I, and 50% in cycle II. This study concludes that diverse learning using nature-based media is very important for children's cognitive development at Nurulzullam PAUD in Cicangor Village.

Abstract

Language is a crucial aspect of early childhood development as it serves as a means of communication, thinking, and understanding the environment. Preliminary observations at PAUD A. Sopyan Tamansari, Pangkalan, Karawang revealed that the language skills of children aged 4–5 years were still underdeveloped. Puzzle games, which should function as educational media, were mainly used as fillers without structured strategies. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using puzzles as a learning medium to enhance children's language development. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method involving 15 children aged 4–5 years and a classroom teacher as subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that puzzle activities stimulated children’s abilities to ask questions, name pictures, recognize letters, and answer questions. Of the 15 children, 7 (46.67%) were in the “Beginning to Develop” category, 7 (46.67%) were “Developing as Expected,” and 1 (6.67%) was “Developing Very Well.” Thus, puzzles are considered effective as an alternative learning medium to improve early childhood language skills when applied in a structured and consistent manner.
