Abstract

Abstract

This article explores communication strategies based on symbolic interactionism theory in the context of Islamic values education, particularly in facing the challenges of modernisation and globalisation. In Islamic education, communication plays an important role as a means of conveying and internalising values that shape the character, ethics, and worldview of students. Using a literature review approach, this study analyses how symbolic interactionism, which focuses on meaning-making through social interaction, can be applied to develop effective educational communication strategies. The findings indicate that interpersonal communication, group discussions, and the use of digital media are the main strategies that align with the symbolic interactionism framework. This approach enables educators to connect meaningfully with students, taking into account their social backgrounds and individual identities. By emphasising symbols, shared meanings, and personal involvement, Islamic educators can foster a deeper understanding and stronger commitment to Islamic values. This approach not only supports character development but also prepares students to navigate the global world without losing their religious identity. This study underscores the importance of adaptive and value-based communication strategies in enhancing the relevance and impact of Islamic education in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This study analyzed the behavior of women who perform bathing, washing, and toileting (MCK) activities in the open Aek Pohon River in the Pidoli Dolok Subdistrict. The aim is to identify the causes, impacts, and appropriate environmental communication strategies. This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach through observation and interviews. The results show that this behavior is influenced by limited facilities, long-standing traditions, and the perception of the river as the primary water source. Communication strategies are implemented through educational efforts, the involvement of religious leaders, and the provision of MCK facilities by the government. These findings are expected to contribute to studies on social behavior and environmental communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the approaches of the Qur’an, Hadith, and the use of religious language in marriage guidance at KUA Panyabungan Utara from the perspective of da'wah management. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Qur’an and Hadith serve as the primary foundations in delivering the material, while religious language is adapted to the social conditions of prospective brides and grooms to ensure it is communicative and easily understood. The implementation of guidance has applied da'wah management functions, including planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation, thereby contributing to improving the spiritual and social readiness of prospective couples. The da'wah management perspective reveals how theological messages are designed and conveyed effectively to address psychological and sociological aspects of society. The novelty of this study lies in the synthesis of normative values and the managerial functions of KUA as a structured da'wah institution, with religious language acting as a persuasive medium. These findings are expected to offer an innovative model for marriage guidance based on religious rhetoric and local wisdom

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a model of Islamic value-based crisis communication in an Islamic boarding school through a case study at Pondok Pesantren Attibyan, Deli Serdang. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, this research examines how leaders, administrators, teachers, and students manage information and respond to crisis situations. The findings reveal that crisis communication at Attibyan is structured hierarchically while remaining consultative, grounded in Islamic values such as tabayyun (verification) and amanah (accountability). An important contextual finding is that students are not allowed to use personal mobile phones within the pesantren environment. As a result, digital communication is centrally managed by the pesantren authorities, making information control more structured but also creating challenges in external communication speed. The study identifies a five-stage crisis communication model: early detection, internal verification, message formulation, controlled publication through official channels, and evaluation-recovery. Digital media are used selectively by the management for clarification and public education with an ethical and non-defensive tone. Key challenges include limited digital literacy among stakeholders and the absence of formal written procedures. This research contributes to the development of Islamic crisis communication models by integrating religious values with modern communication management practices in the context of pesantren.
