Abstract

Family Planning (FP) and reproductive health consultation and counseling are essential strategies to improve adolescents’ knowledge, attitudes, and skills in preventing unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and other reproductive health problems. This community service activity was conducted in Pupuan, Tabanan, on August 19th, 2025, using a nursing management–based approach in primary health care services, including planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation of FP and reproductive health consultation and counseling for adolescents. The methods consisted of group health education, interactive discussions, and individual counseling delivered in structured service areas (registration and IEC desk, waiting area, private counseling room, interactive education room, and digital information booth) supported by presentation media, educational videos, and printed materials. The results showed an increase in adolescents’ knowledge and understanding regarding FP concepts, contraceptive methods, physical and psychosocial changes during adolescence, and the importance of maintaining reproductive health, as reflected in higher post-test scores and active participation during the sessions. Implementation of nursing management principles in service flow arrangement and nurses’ roles supported service quality, indicated by more orderly service flow, comfortable counseling atmosphere, and positive feedback on the clarity of information and the friendliness of providers. This program recommends strengthening and replicating FP and reproductive health consultation and counseling models based on nursing management in other primary health care centers as part of efforts to improve primary health care quality and achieve national FP and reproductive health targets.

Abstract

The use of gadgets has become a part of modern family life and is increasingly observed among young children, including in residential areas like Woodville Residence Sidoarjo. Children’s dependence on digital devices is a concern, as it may hinder their emotional development. This study aims to describe how gadget use impacts the emotional development of young children and assess parents’ understanding of the associated risks. The research employs a descriptive approach with a survey method targeting parents of children aged 3–6 years. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire that includes the duration of gadget use, parenting patterns, and indicators of the child’s emotional development. The results show that the majority of children use gadgets beyond the recommended limits, and this condition correlates with signs of emotional instability, such as irritability, low self-confidence, and difficulty in controlling emotions. These findings emphasize that the role of parents in regulating gadget use is crucial to ensure optimal emotional development in children.

Abstract

Excessive gadget use may negatively affect learning motivation and academic engagement among elementary school students. This study aimed to determine the effect of Excessive Gadget Use Awareness Education on students' learning motivation. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of health education on the dangers of excessive gadget use in improving learning motivation among elementary school students. The intervention was conducted at SDIT Elhaq Sidoarjo, involving 64 respondents selected from a population of 87 students. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach was employed using a researcher-developed Learning Motivation Questionnaire consisting of 20 items. The findings revealed that prior to the intervention, 62% of participants had limited understanding, while 38% demonstrated a moderate level of understanding. Following the intervention, 78% of participants showed improved understanding, whereas 22% continued to exhibit limited comprehension. The results indicate that health education significantly enhances students’ awareness of the negative impacts of excessive gadget use and fosters more positive attitudes toward learning. In conclusion, structured and age-appropriate educational interventions are effective strategies for promoting responsible gadget use and improving learning motivation among elementary school children. These findings highlight the importance of integrating digital health education into school-based programs to optimize students’ academic engagement and developmental outcomes.
