Abstract

KPSP Setia Kawan has two types of farms, namely conventional dairy farms and organic dairy farms. The research results show that in the milk production process of 1 kg of ECM (Energy Corrected Milk) which was delivered to the farm gate for 1 year, the total carbon footprint of milk produced by dairy farms in 2010 was 1.23 ± 0.04 kg CO2 Eq/kg ECM, 80% comes from on-farm activities. This research will apply the Life Cycle Assessment method with the CMLIA Baseline impact method. This method can be used to carry out impact assessments in the livestock sector so it is common for LCA studies in the dairy sector so it is most suitable for conducting comparative studies. It is hoped that with this research, animal husbandry can find out the effectiveness of implementing organic cattle farming in reducing environmental impacts compared to conventional cattle farming and help promote animal husbandry that prioritizes environmental aspects in the production and supporting processes.

Abstract

Kegiatan produksi susu mulai dari peternakan sampai dengan distribusi susu ke pabrik berpotensi menimbulkan emisi dan limbah yang mencemari lingkungan. Air limbah pada kegiatan peternakan sapi perah memiliki kandungan organik yang tinggi seperti BOD, COD, TSS, Amonia yang berpotensi mencemari perairan. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menganalisis dampak lingkungan dari proses produksi susu segar menggunakan analisis Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Penelitian ini menggunakan batasan cradle to gate meliputi kegiatan peternakan, Transportasi susu ke Pos Penampungan Susu, penampungan susu di Pos Penampungan Susu dan Koperasi Susu, dan Transportasi susu ke industri pengolahan susu. Analisis dampak lingkungan menggunakan software OpenLCA 1.11.0 menggunakan metode CML-IA Baseline. Nilai dampak untuk setiap 1 kg ECM susu segar pada salah satu peternakan di Nongkojajar yaitu Global Warming Potential sebesar 3,14 x 10-2 Kg CO2 eq, eutrofikasi sebesar 1,15 x 10-6 Kg PO4 eq, asidifikasi sebesar 1,81 x 10-6 Kg SO2 eq, Human Toxicity sebesar 4,15 x 10-6 Kg 1,4-DB eq, Photochemical Oxidation sebesar 1,19 x 10-7 Kg CO2 eq. Hotspot proses produksi susu segar terletak pada kegiatan peternakan dengan dampak Global Warming Potential sebesar 7,51 x 10-16 dari substansi pencemar CO2.
