Abstract

Workflow automation plays a vital role in developing efficient government operations. Anchored on the Technology Acceptance Model, this descriptive-correlational study evaluated the efficiency of using automation tools in key work processes of a Philippine government agency. A census of the population was used to gather data from the 31 employees directly involved in the subject agency’s automation processes. Data were collected through a researcher-structured, validated questionnaire via Google Forms. These data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, multiple linear regression, ANOVA and Pearson r correlation analysis. The findings indicated that automation tools significantly enhanced the efficacy of key work processes in terms of speed, accuracy, and collaboration. Moreover, the study also revealed that employees are generally satisfied with performing routine and repetitive tasks because of the benefits of automation tools. However, the efficacy of key work processes is not significantly related to their overall job satisfaction. The study also revealed that the perceived impact of automation tools on key work processes is not affected by the demographic profile of the employees. This study also revealed that staff resistance and system integration issues are major barriers to the adoption of workflow automation. Furthermore, the study confirmed that there was no statistically significant correlation between perceived ease of use and problems encountered with automation tools.  A strategic roadmap is proposed to improve workflow automation efficiency and address adoption-related challenges. This study also offers valuable insights for other government agencies seeking to introduce and assess similar technologies to enhance workflow and operational efficiency.

This study assesses the SCM practices of a Philippine food manufacturing company, evaluates its organizational sustainability, and examines the relationship between the two. This descriptive-quantitative research used a researcher-structured questionnaire to gather insights from 134 randomly selected employees involved in SCM tasks across various departments of the subject food manufacturing company. The data gathered from the respondents were analyzed using weighted mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, and Pearson correlation coefficient analysis. The findings revealed that the company is demonstrating strong performance in all SCM dimensions covered in this study, while the company also showed excellent organizational sustainability in terms of economic, environmental, and social dimensions. The study also found a high significant positive correlation between SCM practices and organizational sustainability, indicating that the excellent performance of a company’s SCM practices directly contributed to enhancing its sustainability outcomes. Based on these findings, several opportunities were identified to further optimize SCM practices and bolster sustainability efforts of the company. This study can offer valuable insights for industry stakeholders to continuously improve their SCM practices in order to drive sustainable operations in the food manufacturing sector.

Abstract

Hosting mega-sport events is a risk-involving decision, but the intangible benefits as an outcome cannot be ignored. This study gauged the impact of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on the quality of life through the working conditions, public safety, and cost of living related to the job performance of the 20 finance and accounting department workforce of a construction company in Doha, Qatar. Employing the descriptive-correlation method as the research design, the data gathered using the researcher-structured questionnaire were analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and Spearman Rho coefficient correlation test as statistical tools. The study concluded that the anticipated negative quality of life indicators did not materialize during the mega-sport event. Further, the 2022 FIFA World Cup did not negatively impact the respondents' job performance since they still managed to perform their job assignments well. The paper, therefore, encourages that, at the very least, employees to diligently perform their jobs at all times while employers provide the necessities and should always consider safeguarding their employees' quality of life while at work by providing decent and comfortable working conditions and reasonable compensation and benefits enabling them to adequately cover their cost of living, especially during periods where mega-events are to be held within the geographical scope of their business operations. This study is useful for policymakers who are planning to utilize mega events to enhance the quality of life and job performance of working residents of the host communities.

Abstract

The rank-and-file employees of the subject social health insurance corporation (SHIC) should comprehensively understand its program and services as they are expected to provide timely, accurate, and relevant information to the members. This study was conducted to determine the awareness of employees on the programs and services of a SHIC in the Philippines. It focused on three aspects: membership, contribution, and benefits availment. This study also looked into the top queries received by employees and the channel or medium of communication where they primarily received the information. This descriptive-quantitative research used a structured questionnaire distributed to the 186 SHIC employees (Job Grades 5-10) in the different sectors of the corporation. Findings revealed that SHIC employees are generally somewhat aware of the three aspects of SHIC's programs and services. It was also found that the level of awareness of employees does not vary across job grade classifications. The most frequent inquiries received by SHIC employees revolved around membership processes such as ID/MDR issuance, membership registration, updating of dependents, and understanding benefits and deductions. Lastly, official social media platforms, meetings, interaction with colleagues, and direct communication from SHIC representatives were the organization's primary sources of information.  The recommendations forwarded in this study can enhance SHIC's services aligned with its mission of providing accessible and affordable healthcare in the country.

Abstract

Quality control management practices (QCMP) are a driving force in augmenting organizational quality performance. This study determined the QCMP of a semiconductor company in Laguna, Philippines and assessed its perceived impact on customer satisfaction. A researcher-made survey instrument was validated and pilot-tested, establishing a Cronbach Alpha of 0.892. The surveyed respondents are 150 employees of the subject-semiconductor company who consented to participate in the study. The collected data were analyzed utilizing frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and ANOVA. The study found that employees were aware of the implementation of company-wide QCMP, and they likewise perceived that the quality system was appropriately set in place. The study proved that the company's dedication to continuous improvement and employee engagement leading to customer satisfaction is evident. Moreover, the study also proved that profile indicators employed in the study are not varying factors for the company's QCMP implementation. To continue reaping the highest implementation, it is recommended that the company sustain the commitment to maintain its QCMP through continuous training, employee feedback, exploring opportunities, better customer relations, and enhancing cross-functional processes.

Abstract

Increasing the minimum wage primarily aims to reduce poverty, combat social inequality, boost employee productivity and improve the overall economic condition. This research aimed to understand the impact of minimum wage policy on employee job satisfaction and productivity in the Philippine hospitality sector. Using a quantitative descriptive research approach, the data were gathered from the 43 minimum wage earners performing various roles in a select hotel and resort in the Philippines. These respondents are a subpopulation of the 77 total employees in the company who have experienced the wage increase in September 2024. Using a researcher-structured questionnaire, responses were collected through a combination of face-to-face onsite surveys and Google Forms. Statistical tests such as frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and ANOVA were employed in the data analysis. The findings revealed that the minimum wage increases positively influenced employees’ job satisfaction and productivity with agreement across all areas. While the study confirmed the overall positive impact of the wage increase to the employees, most demographic factors were found not to affect their job satisfaction or productivity levels. Among demographic variables, educational attainment emerged as the only factor significantly influencing job satisfaction. Based on the findings, the researchers proposed a strategy roadmap to enhance the employees’ job satisfaction and productivity. This study can serve as reference for stakeholders in the hospitality sector, including human resource managers of hotels, resorts, and similar establishments who are seeking to improve employee satisfaction and drive overall productivity of the tourism industry.
