Abstract

Conducting a need analysis is crucial for tailoring academic writing instruction to meet the students’ need. Need analysis serve as systematic tool  for developing relevant learning materials that align with students’ learning needs. This research hold significant importance in adressing the integration of project-based learning (PjBL) and blended learning within the context of academic writing. By identifying the needs of students, it provides valuable insight for culliculum designers and educators in English education program.  The research aims to identify the students' need for project-based learning with blended learning in academic writing. This study is conducted as survey research at the English education study program at Muhammadiyah University of Mataram and Mandalika University of Education. The questionnaire of collecting data consists of 61 statements with 11 factors. The result of the research shows that all of the students need eleven factors such as learning objectives, topic needs, teaching material requirements, needs assessment, the need of PJBL syntax, blended learning, social system need, requirement principle of reaction, need of support system, learning impact need, and need for impact accompanying learning. The results of this research are expected contributing to the lecturers, stakeholders, and curriculum development of project-based blended learning in academic writiting at the English Education department.

Abstract

Abstrak Masih rendahnya kemampuan berbahasa Inggris  yang dimiliki masyarakat desa  Medana merupakan masalah serius yang perlu segera diberikan solusi. Mitra sasaran dari kegiatan ini anggota pokdarwis yang ada di Desa Medana kabupaten Lombok Utara. Peserta yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini  terdiri atas   20 orang anggota Pokdarwis. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa inggris guiding bagi anggota Pokdarwis desa Medana. Metode dalam pelatihan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pelatihan. Pencapaian hasil pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah meningkatnya kemampuan peserta dalam materi prinsip -prinsip pemahaman lintas budaya (Cross Cultural Understanding), kultur, nilai dalam sebuah budaya dan attitude terhadap budaya lain, pelatihan komunikasi lintas secara verbal dan non verbal,   salam dan perkenalan (greeting and introduction), tourist welcoming, tourism vocabulary, tour guide dialogue, menjelaskan produk dan budaya yang ada di daerah tersebut, dan homestay reservation,teori dan materi dasar hospitality. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pendampingan ini telah tercapai dengan baik. Kata kunci: pendampingan; bahasa inggris guiding; pokdarwis Abstract The low level of English language skills possessed by the people of Medana village is a serious problem that needs to be solved immediately. The target partners of this activity are members of Pokdarwis in Medana Village, North Lombok Regency. The participants involved in this activity consisted of 20 Pokdarwis members. This community service activity aims to improve English guiding skills for members of the Medana village Pokdarwis. The method in the training was carried out using the training method. The achievement of the results of this community service is the increasing ability of participants in the material of the principles of cross-cultural understanding, culture, values in a culture and attitude towards other cultures, verbal and non-verbal cross communication training, greeting and introduction, tourist welcoming, tourism vocabulary, tour guide dialogue, explaining products and culture in the area, and homestay reservation, theory and basic hospitality materials. So it can be concluded that this mentoring activity has been well achieved. Keywords: mentoring; english guiding; pokdarwis
