Abstract

Enhancing critical thinking skills is a valuable learning asset in the twenty-first century, and utilizing an educational framework that promotes this development can aid students' growth. Research reveals problem-based learning as the sole form of instruction most effective at fostering critical thinking abilities among pupils. In light of these findings, this study examines articles from Sinta-indexed journals to evaluate research on PBL models regarding their impact on promoting critical thought processes. The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive overview of reputable publications released within the last five years (2020-2024), highlighting how PBL strategies assist learners in cultivating crucial analytic capabilities. The primary focus of this study is data on critical thinking abilities and problem-based learning models in the fields of science, biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. This research used the PRISMA approach, a literature study methodology consisting of four parts (identification, screening, feasibility, and inclusion). It is found through identification, screening, and eligibility there are 12 articles collected from various journal publishers and hundreds of journal articles. The study's conclusions indicate that most research on PBL models and critical thinking abilities is carried out in Indonesia at different educational levels. Scientific research frequently makes use of experimental procedures. Furthermore, it was shown that PBL research encompasses more traits than only critical thinking abilities. The examination of current publications makes it clear that the PBL technique can promote critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

STEM education offers significant benefits, including improving students' ability to solve problems, think critically and innovate. It not only prepares students to enter the workforce, but also facilitates their engagement in society at large. The main objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of STEM education research from 2003 to 2024. It will identify the most prolific affiliations, sources, authors and documents as well as key research themes and trends in STEM education. This research is a bibliometric study with a PRISMA design that will help the authors to map the Scopus database. From the results of the above analysis, it can be concluded that the implementation of STEM education in schools shows a significantly increasing trend over the period 2003-2024, with a surge of publications starting in 2018 and peaking in 2020 and 2021 with 18 publications per year each. Asia was the most productive continent, with 47.52% of articles published by affiliates from this region, dominated by seven affiliates from countries such as Vietnam, Hong Kong, Turkey and Malaysia. Europe and Australia also showed high productivity with significant contributions from universities in countries such as Germany, Ireland, Greece and Australia

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Fun School Movement (GSM) program at public junior high schools in Kulon Progo Regency. The evaluation assesses the achievements and barriers within four key components of GSM: learning environment, pedagogical practices, character development, and school connectedness. The method used is Provus' Discrepancy Evaluation Model (DEM) with a mixed-methods approach, involving 3 principals, 28 teachers, and 288 students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and document reviews, and analyzed using qualitative analysis and descriptive statistics. The results show that the GSM program successfully created a more positive learning environment, with an average achievement of 75.64% across the three schools, and supported student character development, with an average score of 77.92%. However, the main challenges included varying levels of understanding among teachers, low parental involvement, and the need for further teacher training. The implications of this study emphasize the need for continuous teacher training and increased parental involvement to support the more effective and sustainable implementation of GSM.
