Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on problem-solving ability and science learning outcomes of students at SMP Negeri 1 Adiluwih. This study used an experimental method with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The sample of the study was grade VIII students consisting of an experimental class with the application of the PBL model and a control class with conventional learning methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through essay tests to measure problem-solving ability and cognitive learning outcomes. The data obtained were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) tests to determine the significance of the influence of the learning model. The results showed that the PBL model had a significant effect on problem-solving ability and student learning outcomes. The average posttest score and the difference between the pretest and posttest in the experimental class were higher than the control class. In terms of problem-solving ability, students taught with the PBL model showed significant improvement, as seen from the higher average posttest score and the results of the covariance analysis correction that supported the superiority of the PBL model. Likewise, the cognitive learning outcomes of students in the experimental class showed significant improvement compared to the control class. The conclusion of this study is that the PBL model is effective in improving students' problem-solving skills and science learning outcomes. This model is able to encourage students to think critically, creatively, and actively in the learning process. The results of this study recommend the widespread application of the PBL model to improve the quality of science learning in secondary schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran pengurus pondok pesantren dalam membina karakter disiplin santri putri di Pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Mubtadiin Jati Agung Lampung Selatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengurus pondok memiliki peran penting sebagai pembimbing, pengawas, sekaligus teladan dalam membina kedisiplinan santri putri. Pembinaan dilakukan melalui pembiasaan kedisiplinan waktu, penerapan aturan, dan pemberian keteladanan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Meskipun menghadapi beberapa tantangan, seperti perbedaan karakter santri dan pengaruh lingkungan luar, pembinaan yang dilakukan telah memberikan dampak positif terhadap perkembangan karakter santri, khususnya dalam membentuk sikap disiplin, tanggung jawab, dan kemandirian. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa peran pengurus pondok pesantren sangat efektif dalam membentuk karakter disiplin santri putri di lingkungan Pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Mubtadiin.

Abstract

Learning Islamic Cultural History in madrasas still faces challenges in creating an engaging and meaningful learning environment for students. The use of less varied learning methods and media results in low student engagement and suboptimal learning outcomes. The development of educational technology provides opportunities for the use of innovative learning media, one of which is through educational games that integrate learning and game elements interactively. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The subjects were class VIII A students of MTs Hidayatul Mubtadi'in, Sidoharjo Village, Jati Agung District, South Lampung Regency, in the 2025/2026 academic year. The application of educational games was carried out in the Islamic Cultural History learning process as a learning treatment. Data were obtained through learning achievement tests, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using inferential statistical techniques. The results showed differences in student learning outcomes after the implementation of educational game-based learning. The application of educational games was able to increase student engagement in the learning process and made a positive contribution to the achievement of Islamic Cultural History learning outcomes.
