Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing the jigsaw-type cooperative learning model in improving student learning outcomes in material on the struggles of warrior figures during the Dutch and Japanese colonial periods in social studies classes in elementary schools. The jigsaw model, which emphasizes collaboration between students and active learning, is used to overcome difficulties experienced or faced by students in understanding historical material. This research was carried out in class V of An Nuriyah Jagakarsa Islamic Elementary School using the classroom action research (PTK) method, which is based on a cycle of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes, measured through tests and observation of student participation, which was affected by the rise in the percentage of complete learning outcomes from 31.42% in the pre-cycle to 94.28% in the second cycle. Applying the jigsaw model also increases student motivation and involvement in history learning. This research concluded that the jigsaw model was effective in increasing students' understanding of the struggle material of warrior figures and could also improve the quality of social studies teaching in elementary schools.

Abstract

Background: Urban air pollution is a modifiable environmental determinant that contributes to the burden of respiratory and cardiopulmonary diseases. The initial SLR manuscript provided a comprehensive synthesis, but it needs to be strengthened to ensure greater transparency, replicability, and a focus on evidence quality appraisal. Objective: This review synthesizes evidence from the past five years on the association between PM2.5, PM10, NO2, O3, traffic-related pollutants, and household air pollution with asthma, COPD, respiratory infections, reduced lung function, hospitalizations, mortality, DALYs, and YLLs. Methods: The review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020. The search was conducted on PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar on June 6, 2026, for articles published between January 1, 2021, and June 6, 2026. Duplicate removal was performed using DOI/PMID, normalized titles, and manual matching. Study quality was assessed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Tools, ROBINS-E/ROBINS-I, and AMSTAR 2, depending on the study design. Results: The workflow log aligns with the PRISMA source manuscript: 492 records, 122 duplicates, 370 records screened, 197 full-text reports assessed, 50 reports excluded, and 147 studies included. The most consistent evidence was found for PM2.5 and NO2, particularly regarding asthma/COPD hospitalizations, respiratory mortality, and cardiopulmonary burden. Ozone is more prominent in COPD and the elderly due to acute oxidative effects, impaired mucociliary clearance, and interactions with temperature and summer exposure. Household air pollution differs from ambient air pollution because microenvironmental exposure intensity is higher, exposure duration is more closely tied to domestic activities, and the burden is disproportionately borne by women, children, and low-income households. Conclusion: This systematic review indicates that controlling PM2.5, traffic-related NO₂, combustion-derived particles, ozone in the elderly and those with COPD, and household air pollution should be a priority for environmental-health policies, including in Indonesia.

Abstract

Chronic and acute respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD, COVID-19, ARDS, and acute respiratory infections (ARI) pose a substantial global health burden. Conventional surveillance systems are reactive and limited in early detection. Electronic Health Records (EHRs) offer great potential as a longitudinal data source for more effective respiratory disease monitoring and management. This systematic review aims to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of EHR use in monitoring disease trends, early detection, and optimizing clinical management of patients with various respiratory conditions. This systematic review followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Literature searches were conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar (2016--2025). The research question was formulated using the PICO framework. A total of 40 articles meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed thematically. The majority of studies originated from high-income countries (USA, UK, Denmark, Netherlands, Spain, Australia), with diverse study designs (retrospective cohort 35%, model development 25%, cluster RCT 5%). Types of EHR interventions included real-time surveillance systems, NLP/AI-based prediction models, CDSS, and data quality evaluations. EHRs were shown to detect SARI case surges up to 8 days earlier, predict ARDS with an AUROC of 0.84, reduce unnecessary antibiotic prescribing by 12--16%, and extract asthma symptoms with an F1-score >0.95. However, significant challenges remain regarding data quality (completeness <50% for some variables) and geographic gaps (no studies from Indonesia). EHRs, particularly when integrated with NLP and artificial intelligence, are effective for surveillance, early detection, and clinical management of respiratory diseases. However, data quality challenges and the lack of evidence from developing countries still need to be addressed. Data standardization, interoperability investments, and technology adaptation for local contexts such as Indonesia are required.
