Abstract

Ganoderma sp. is a fungal pathogen that causes basal stem rot in oil palm, leading to production losses of up to 80%. One potential method to inhibit fungal growth is the use of plant-based fungicides derived from bintaro fruit (Cerbera manghas L.) extract. This study aims to determine the effective concentration of C. manghas fruit extract for controlling Ganoderma sp., the causal agent of basal stem rot disease in oil palm, under in vitro conditions. The extract was tested at concentrations of 0%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10% using a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and five replications. The extract was prepared using distilled water (simple extraction) and incorporated into PDA medium. Observed parameters included fungal colony area, mycelial dry weight, and mycelial fresh weight. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at the 5% significance level. The results indicated that C. manghas fruit extract inhibited the growth of Ganoderma sp. The 6% extract concentration exhibited the highest inhibitory effect, reducing colony area by 15.49%, dry weight by 31.30%, and fresh weight by 30.77%.

Abstract

The expansion of private oil palm plantations in Indonesia remains a critical issue due to the country’s position as the world’s largest crude palm oil (CPO) producer, with production reaching 48.23 million tonnes in 2023. This study aims to analyze the potential, constraints, and strategic opportunities for plantation extensification, particularly through the utilization of marginal lands (S2 and S3) and corporate expansion strategies such as mergers, acquisitions, and partnership schemes. A systematic literature review was conducted by synthesizing peer-reviewed journals, government statistics, and institutional reports selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria to capture current dynamics of oil palm development in Indonesia. The findings indicate that the availability of highly suitable agricultural land (S1) is increasingly limited, encouraging companies to explore alternative strategies such as the optimization of degraded and idle lands, strengthening smallholder partnership schemes (plasma), and implementing replanting programs such as Peremajaan Sawit Rakyat (PSR). However, these opportunities are constrained by stricter environmental governance, land-use regulations, and increasing global sustainability requirements. The review further shows that S2 and S3 lands present significant biophysical limitations, including high soil acidity, poor drainage, and aluminium toxicity, which increase production costs and require advanced agronomic management. Socio-economic challenges such as land conflicts and unequal benefit distribution also continue to affect plantation expansion outcomes. This study concludes that Indonesia’s palm oil development is gradually shifting from land extensification toward productivity intensification. This transition highlights the need for stronger sustainability governance through ISPO and RSPO certification systems, improved environmental management practices, and more inclusive stakeholder engagement to ensure that plantation development remains economically viable, environmentally responsible, and socially equitable.

Abstract

A common horticultural plant in Indonesia is the Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.). Because of its low nutrient content, pakcoy output declines annually. By applying fertilizer, low nutrient levels can be raised. One such form of fertilizer is local microorganisms an organic fertilizer. Gibberellin, cytokinin, auxsin, and other phytohormones substances that promote plant growth and development as well as inhibitors that can boost plant activity and nutrition are all found in local microorganisms. Palm fronds, which are by products of the palm oil industry, are one type of organic material that can be utilized as local microorganisms. This study sought to ascertain the impact and optimal method of administering local microorganisms to oil palm fronds in order to promote growth and pakcoy plant output. The study employed a non factorial Randomized Block Design with 3 replications and 4 treatments. D0 (control), D1 (10 ml/polybag), D2 (15 ml/polybag), and D3 (20 ml/polybag) were the treatments. Plant height (cm), number of leaves (pieces), leaf breadth (cm), and wet weight (g) were the parameters used for the observation. The height and quantity of leaves of pakcoy plants are 2 growth characteristics that are impacted when oil palm fronds are given local microorganisms. With a concentration of 15 ml/polybag, treatment D2 produced the highest local microorganisms concentration of oil palm fronds.

Abstract

Kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) merupakan salah satu komoditas perkebunan strategis di Indonesia yang memiliki peranan penting dalam perekonomian nasional. Namun, produktivitasnya sering kali mengalami penurunan akibat serangan Organisme Pengganggu Tanaman (OPT), salah satunya adalah kumbang tanduk (Oryctes rhinoceros). Kumbang tanduk merupakan salah satu hama utama pada kelapa sawit yang menyerang titik tumbuh tanaman, terutama pada tanaman muda bahkan hingga tanaman menghasilkan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui persentase dan intensitas serangan hama kumbang tanduk (Oryctes rhinoceros) pada tanaman kelapa sawit menghasilkan di PT. Inti Indosawit Subur. Penelitian menggunakan metode survey lapangan dan pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Dari penelitian didapatkan persentase serangan hama kumbang tanduk pada tanaman kelapa sawit berkisar antara 33,3% – 66,6% (kategori Berat hingga Sangat Berat) dengan Intensitas serangan 10,8 % - 20,8% (kategori Ringan).

Abstract

Tanaman pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) termasuk tanaman hortikultura yang banyak terdapat di Indonesia. Produktivitas pakcoy dapat ditingkatkan dengan pemberian pupuk. Mikroorganisme Lokal (MOL) merupakan jenis pupuk yang dapat digunakan dalam budidaya tanaman pakcoy. MOL mengandung fitohormon seperti giberelin, sitokinin, auxsin dan inhibitor yang dapat menambah aktivitas tanaman serta menambah nutrisi tanaman. Pelepah kelapa sawit merupakan bahan MOL yang banyak tersedia di Pelalawan sebagai hasil samping industri kelapa sawit. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui respon dan perlakuan terbaik pemberian MOL pelepah kelapa sawit terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman pakcoy pada media Podsolik Merah Kuning (PMK). Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non faktorial yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari A0 (kontrol), A1 (20 ml/L), A2 (30 ml/L) dan A3  (40 ml/L). Parameter pengamatan terdiri dari tinggi tanaman (cm), lebar daun (cm) dan panjang daun (cm). Pemberian MOL pelepah kelapa sawit berpengaruh nyata pada pertumbuhan tanaman pakcoy yaitu pada semua parameter penelitian. Konsentrasi MOL pelepah kelapa sawit terbaik diperoleh pada perlakuan A2 dengan konsentrasi 30 ml/L.
