Abstract

Increasing regional economic efficiency can be done through accelerated regional growth. Growth acceleration is known to produce two groups of regions, namely the growth center and Hinterland (supporting areas). This study aims to analyze the sub-districts that become growth centers and determine the value of community interaction between regions in Bantul Regency through comparative data in 2020 and 2022. In this study, secondary data is obtained through BPS Bantul Regency, which includes data, government facilities, education facilities, health facilities, worship facilities, economic facilities, communication facilities, tourism facilities, population, and distance between sub-districts. The analysis method used in this research is scalogram and gravity analysis, which was processed using Microsoft Excel. The results of the scaling analysis show that in 2020, there are five regional growth centers in Bantul Regency, which include Kasihan Subdistrict, Sewon Subdistrict, Banguntapan Subdistrict, Jetis Subdistrict, and Bambanglipuro Subdistrict. Meanwhile, in 2022, the scaling analysis shows that there are five regional growth centers in Bantul Regency, which include Banguntapan Sub-district, Sewon Sub-district, Jetis Sub-district, Kasihan Sub-district, and Kretek Sub-district. Then, the results of the gravity analysis show that there are different interaction values. The research results show that local governments need to prioritize the development of sub-districts that are still Hinterland by the RPJMD of Bantul Regency.

Abstract

Green tourism initiatives tend to prioritize physical development and agricultural outputs, while insufficient attention is given to the integration of political coordination, economic value chain strengthening, social participation, technological innovation, environmental management, and legal-institutional arrangements. As a result, the development of Lumbung Mataraman-based green tourism remains fragmented and context-dependent, limiting its capacity to function as a comprehensive and sustainable development model. Addressing this gap, this study conducts a comparative analysis of green tourism development under the Lumbung Mataraman initiative in Bantul and Kulon Progo Regencies using the PESTEL framework. A qualitative comparative approach was employed through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis, with all data coded and thematically analyzed using NVivo. The results reveal contrasting development patterns: Bantul demonstrates a governance-driven model marked by cross-sectoral integration and collaborative networks, while Kulon Progo exhibits a commodity-driven model dominated by plantation-based agrotourism with limited diversification. By extending the application of PESTEL to community-based green tourism linked to food security initiatives, this study offers a comparative conceptualization of differentiated development models that can inform more context-sensitive and adaptive regional tourism policies.

Abstract

Aquaculture is an important sector that plays a role in supporting food security while improving the economy of rural communities. This activity is an easy alternative because it can utilize limited land and simple media, such as ponds. Bantul Regency is one of the areas in the Special Region of Yogyakarta that has aquaculture activities with promising prospects. Catfish is the favorite fish of the community in terms of consumption, so it is not surprising that the production volume of catfish is quite high on a regional scale. This community service activity aims to encourage and enhance community empowerment in managing vacant land potential so that the community can have additional income through catfish farming using tarpaulin ponds in the Griya Cendekia UII Sedayu Bantul assisted village located in Padukuhan Kaliberot. The results of catfish farming are used as a marketing tool that can improve community welfare and create new jobs. The community service methods implemented include the identification of problems and potential partners; the construction of catfish ponds; training in catfish pond cultivation; program monitoring; and evaluation and sustainability strategies. The results of community service activities show that these activities improve the community's ability to manage catfish productively and optimize marketing management. These activities conclude that catfish farming not only supports the environmental ecosystem but also creates new economic opportunities for the community.
