Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is caused by the dengue virus, transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. This disease is a serious concern in tropical regions such as Indonesia. This community service aims to analyze the improvement of health cadres' knowledge and skills through education by TP PKK and community leaders in DHF prevention in Nggembe Village, Bolo District, Bima Regency. The methods used include lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and the creation of educational materials such as leaflets and banners. The activities took place on November 4, 11, and 18, 2024, involving preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Results show that most cadres are aged 24-35 years, predominantly female, and have a high school education. Before the intervention, 70% had low knowledge, which improved to 90% in the good category after the intervention. Skills also improved from 56% low to 80% good. Education by TP PKK and community leaders effectively enhanced health cadres' capacity. In conclusion, a structured and participatory educational approach strengthens cadres' roles as agents of change in DHF prevention, with continuous evaluation ensuring program sustainability.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve public knowledge and awareness regarding the prevention and management of stunting through the implementation of the Ma-Kataroa Ndai model in Jatibaru Village, Asakota District, Bima City. The method consisted of preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation stages. Activities were carried out through health education, community outreach, and collaborative efforts involving local health cadres and community leaders. Educational materials included leaflets, banners, and teaching booklets, supported by the provision of nutritious food as a practical example. The results showed a significant increase in community knowledge, with respondents in the “good” category rising from 15% in the pre-test to 80% in the post-test, while those in the “poor” category decreased from 37.5% to 0%. This program also encouraged active community participation in maintaining environmental sanitation and fulfilling children’s nutritional needs through self-help initiatives such as weekly rice collection and egg provision. In conclusion, the Ma-Kataroa Ndai model proved effective in enhancing community understanding and awareness of stunting prevention while promoting collective engagement for the sustainability of health programs at the community level.
