Abstract

Some congregation members consider church service the responsibility of the Pastor, the Congregation Council, the Working Board of the Congregation Council, the Church Holidays Committee, or specific groups due to a lack of understanding and awareness of the concept and importance of service unity. Through community service activities at the GKI Syalom Siba Congregation, Sentani, lecturers from the Theology Department of STAKPN Sentani showed dedication to answering the congregation's needs. As a foundation for the spiritual development of the GKI Syalom Siba congregation, Sentani, this community service activity aims to enlighten the congregation on the importance of service unity. The community service activities were conducted using a lecture and question-and-answer format. The congregation of GKI Syalom Siba participated actively and enthusiastically during the activity. The lecture and question-and-answer methods were effective, and the delivery of simple and easy-to-understand materials contributed to the success of this community service activity. Thus, within the framework of congregational unity at GKI Syalom Siba, Sentani, this activity not only increases the intellectual acumen of the congregation but also becomes the basis for its spiritual development. Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of language in prayer in relation to ethical decision-making within the GKI Klasis Waibu Moi congregation. The problem explored is how prayer language affects ethical decisions, considering that prayer is often viewed as a monotonous routine that can lead to spiritual dryness. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative, analyzing data from prayer recordings. Data collection involved documenting prayer recordings, which were then transcribed, reduced, presented in tables, and analyzed. Data analysis utilized Miles and Huberman's method. The results indicate that prayer language plays a crucial role in reflection and meditation, petitions, and the expression of spiritual values. Prayers involving deep reflection, sincere petitions, and expressions of values such as humility, love, honesty, justice, and hope significantly impact ethical decision-making and strengthen the spiritual relationship with God.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the historical and theological process of Gospel dissemination and the interaction between Christianity and local culture in Tanah Kisar. The research uses a historical method combined with social and theological approaches. Data were collected through literature review, archival research, and in-depth interviews with local traditional leaders, religious figures, and youth. The analysis involved source criticism and data interpretation, which were then compiled into a descriptive-analytical historiography. The findings reveal that the spread of the Gospel in Kisar occurred through five main historical periods, beginning with the Portuguese Catholic mission and evolving into the growth of the Protestant Church of Maluku under local leadership. The spread of Christianity was deeply influenced by colonial socio-political dynamics, often resulting in nominal Christian communities with limited spiritual transformation. The study also highlights that local culture, particularly the indigenous language, plays a vital role in evangelism. The church’s tendency to detach from local culture has hindered the process of inculturation. Therefore, revitalizing local culture through contextual approaches is seen as essential to strengthen the presence of an authentic Christian faith within the Kisar community.

Abstract

Lake Sentani, one of the largest lakes in Papua, plays a vital role as a provider of life for the local community but is threatened by human activities. The eco-theology approach emphasizes the moral relationship between humans and nature as a divine mandate. The research method is qualitative and descriptive, with data collected through in-depth interviews with local stakeholders, authorities, and religious figures. Secondary data from previous research and relevant scientific publications are also used. The research findings indicate that maintaining the balance between humans, the lake, and its ecosystem is crucial for the sustainability of Lake Sentani. The local community holds a decisive view of the lake, considering it as “phuyakha phu reai wali” or the lake is my life. This perspective reflects a deep moral connection with the natural environment and their moral responsibility to care for it. Conservation efforts include biodiversity studies, increasing public awareness, and sustainable management. In conclusion, preserving Lake Sentani is not only an ecological issue but also has a strong spiritual dimension. The eco-theological approach highlights the moral responsibility of humans to care for nature as a divine trust. To maintain ecological balance and the well-being of the local community, conservation efforts involving local communities and relevant stakeholders are essential to ensure the lake's sustainability as a source of life.
