Abstract

This library research aimed at finding out The Elements of Setting in the Novel Sukreni Gadis Bali By A.A.Pandji Tisna. In analyzing a literary work, we have to be able to give a consideration to analyze the elements in a literary work as a work of art, such as form, content, value, and society, which designed a literary work. Setting is everything that happens somewhere at some time. It is the element of fiction which reveal to the reader the where and when of the events occurred, we call setting. It refers to the point in time and space at which the events of the plot occur that can be classified into two types of setting, Neutral setting and the spiritual setting. In relation to those main discussion, this research used qualitative descriptive designed. The Novel entitled Sukreni Gadis Bali is a main source data, while other books reference are the secondary resource to support not only data collection but also data analysis procedure. After doing all the research procedure, it is found out that there are four elements of setting in the Novel Sukreni Gadis bali by AA.Panji Kusna. They are (1) the actual geographical location, including topography, scenery, even the details of room’s interior;(2) the occupation of modes of day-to-day existence of the characters;(3) the time in which the action takes place, e.g., historical period, season of the year; (4) the religious, moral, intellectual, social, and emotional environment of the characters.

Abstract

Analysis of moral humanity in film Skyscraper is a study that explains the moral message. In this study, of course, using a qualitative descriptive research method, namely researchers will make direct observations of moral messages. The research object used by researchers is An Analysis of Moral Humanity in Rawson Marshall Thurbers Skyscraper Film. Where this film was produced by Beau Flynn directed by Rawson Marshall Thurbers because it tells about phenomena inherent in everyday life such as kinship, responsibility, courage, mutual trust, love, help, and honesty. The data collection technique used in this study was documentation analysis. Where the researcher captures several scenes that contain moral messages to be conveyed to the public. The results found in this film based on the theory of Roland Barthes are to analyze the meaning of signifiers, denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings. The results of this study show 7 scenes that show elements of the moral message in the Skyscraper film. So the researchers found the hidden meaning of the film in the form of a moral message.

Abstract

The aims of this research to accomplish three objects, the first is semiotic about sign or object, second is about the interpretant and the third is about Representamen. This thesis used semiotic theory by Charles Sunder Peairce which is analysis the sign. This research used a qualitative method. This research also focused with the signs in lyrics and Picture on video clips of both songs. The conclusions in this research are (1) Types of objects or sign there are Icon, Index and Symbol, (2) Types of Representments there are Dualizing, Sin sign and Leg sign, (3) Type of Interpretant there are Rheme, Deciding and Argument.
