Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of contemporary Islamic culture in the Dhuha program aired on the AW Sumut Channel YouTube, using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, which allows the researcher to interpret the symbols and signs used in the program. The findings reveal that Dhuha presents Islamic culture by combining traditional and contemporary symbols, such as the use of colors, clothing, and words in the sermons that are relevant to current social dynamics. Further discussion uncovers that the program not only conveys religious messages but also plays a role in shaping Islamic cultural identity in the digital era, by adjusting visual and narrative elements to attract an audience from diverse backgrounds. In conclusion, the representation of Islamic culture in Dhuha Online reflects the adaptation and modernization of Islamic preaching, which continues to uphold religious values while being tailored to the development of technology and the needs of modern society.

Abstract

This article explores communication theory and communication ethics guidelines from a Quranic perspective. The terms qaulan bligha, qaulan Maisyuro qaulan karima, qaulan ma'rufa, qaulan layyinan, and qaulan sadida are some of the unique terms used in the Quran to explain the principles of communication. Thus, the definition of communication in the Quran can serve as a foundation in building good and polite communication practices in social, political, and other fields. The Quranic guidelines regarding good behavior and communication with both parents, especially when one or both of them are elderly, is one example of how this is done. The expression “karim”, which means “noble” in Arabic, is used in this regard in the Quran. The meaning of the hadith and the Quranic instructions indicate that Muslims have an obligation to uphold the virtues of truth and politeness in discourse, which in the Quran is referred to as qaulan sadidan.
