Abstract

Superintelligence plays an important role in the development of discourse about posthumanism. In this context, the researcher discussed posthumanism studies in the movie M3GAN (2022). The study focused on the moral status of artificial intelligence embodied robotic prototypes created by humans, namely M3GAN. In other words, how can the protocol system be implemented on M3GAN? Does M3GAN possess moral status regarding suffering, pain, autonomy, interactivity, and adaptivity? How did the humans reveal and interact with this technology in the posthumanism era as depicted in the movie? This article used the posthumanism theory from Robert Pepperell to analyze and answer the research questions. The study used descriptive qualitative data from the dialogue scenes and visual screenshots to represent the analysis results. The results of this research show that artificial intelligence in the form of the M3GAN prototype has moral status, such as autonomy, interactivity, and suffering. It becomes a dystopian reality for the robotic creator. Furthermore, the ethics of artificial intelligence or superintelligence must be unveiled wisely in the implementation.

Abstract

The research with Can You Keep a Secret? Film as an object material aimed to investigate the romance formula within this popular masterpiece. The popular work in this research is based on the same title by the writer Sophie Kinsella. This means the popularity is not just limited to the novel but continued throughout the film. The methodology of this research used qualitative description, which obtained the primary source from scenes of the film and the secondary source from references, books, and previous studies. How the elements and Roman formula are narrated, dominated become the main focus of this research to be analyzed. The result of this study showed that the Roman element narrated the whole story, which is dominated by romance and comedy, supported by the third figure. Meanwhile, the setting within the story uses romantic places, and the plot is easy to guess. Furthermore, the romantic element is followed by other films: a happy ending plot.

Abstract

Masyarakat di Pulau Semujur Desa Kebintik yang merupakan seorang nelayan dianggap merugikan atas keberadaan identitas mereka. Penelitian ini fokus terhadap hak-hak nelayan penduduk Pulau Semujur mengenai hak mereka atas suara, politik dan pendidikan. Ketidakjelasan status kependudukan mengakibatkan berbagai hambatan dalam mengakses hak-hak dasar sebagai warga negara, termasuk hak politik dan pendidikan. Penelitian ini membahas hak politik masyarakat Pulau Semujur terkait akses mereka dalam menentukan pilihan dan keterlibatan dalam ruang publik. Lebih jauh, penelitian ini juga menyoroti dampak dari ketidakjelasan identitas terhadap hak pendidikan, yang menjadi faktor kunci dalam meningkatkan taraf hidup masyarakat pesisir. Ketidaksesuaian Kartu Tanda Penduduk (KTP) tidak hanya membatasi hak politik mereka tetapi juga menghambat akses terhadap pendidikan formal, memperparah kondisi keterpinggiran sosial dan ekonomi mereka. Selain itu, absennya lembaga pendidikan, tenaga pengajar, dan kebijakan pendidikan yang berpihak pada komunitas kepulauan semakin memperburuk kondisi ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif melalui teknik observasi dan interview. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa negara tidak hadir dalam pencatatan identitas di kepulauan tersebut. Kondisi masyarakat Pulau Semujur adalah bare life atau kehidupan yang telanjang dan rentan dalam konteks identitas.
