Abstract

Head nurse should know all the implementation activities of prevention and control of infection in the ward, but in fact the head nurse still performs the function and role in PPI. This article aims to determine the function and role of head nurse in the prevention and control of infections in Porsea Hospital. The method used was a case study and literature study. The results of the assessment and analysis using SWOT analysis known that PPI team, role in the implementation of the PPI. The function and role head nurse less needed in the implementation of PPI. Head nurse is less involved and considered less influential and was not part in the implementation of PPI. Results of literature studies demonstrate the role of the nurse as chief of staff rooms in the ward who do nursing care to patients are very likely to increase the success of infection control. There has been no direct reference that explains the function and role head nurse in the PPI. Recommendations to the hospital nursing manager in order to increase the head nurse function as a leading manager in the ward through policy support and facilities to support such efforts.

Abstract

The school committee is an independent institution consisting of parents/guardians of students, school communities, community leaders, education experts who care about education. This study is targeted to identify and analyze the planning, implementation, and evaluation strategies for the progressiveness of the School Committee's performance as a manifestation and implementation of the independent curriculum. The techniques and methods used in completing this study focus on a qualitative perspective through observation, interviews, and documentation and are targeted to identify linear research findings on the planning, implementation, and evaluation strategies for the progressiveness of the School Committee's performance as a manifestation and implementation of the independent curriculum. Based on the target findings, the research focuses on three stages of management, namely planning, implementation and evaluation and analysis of the school committee's performance progressiveness strategy as a manifestation and implementation of the independent curriculum. The research findings are expected to have a management model implemented in the independent curriculum obtained from the collaboration of the School Committee's performance for four years which is constrained by a number of main challenges, namely the school committee's agenda for the success of short-term, medium-term and long-term targets in the school year that has been set.

Abstract

Organizational commitment and motivation are the determinants of the success of a defined goal. Organizational commitment and motivation also contribute to performance. Highly committed and motivated nurses will work optimally for improved performance results. Improved care performance is absolutely done to improve the image of the services provided by the hospital. The objective of the research was to find out the correlation of organizational commitment and work motivation with the performance of nurse practitioners. The research used quantitative method with cross sectional design. The samples were 116 nurse practitioners as the respondents, taken by using total sampling technique. The result of Spearman’s rho correlation test showed that there was significant correlation of organizational commitment with the performance of nurse practitioners at p-value = 0,00 < 0,05 and there was significant correlation of work motivation with the performance of nurse practitioners at p-value = 0,00 < 0,05. The result of univariate analysis shows that most of the nurses have good organizational commitment with good category 58,6%, work motivation with good category equal to 57,8% and good category performance equal to 61,2%. The result of the research showed that there was positive and significant correlation of organizational commitment and work motivation with the performance of nurse practitioners. It is expected that in the future nurses and hospitals will be more aware of how important it is to maintain commitment and motivation that are very influential towards better performance improvement.

Abstract

Nurses as one of the health workers who handle Covid-19 patients feel the impact of stress because they face unusual situations, The increase in Covid-19 patients can cause nurses to become stressed and at risk of making mistakes. Each hospital has different work shifts, irregularities in work shift schedules in nurses can cause errors in the provision of nursing care and patient application. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between work stress and nurse shift work in the Inpatient Room of RSUD Porsea during the Covid-19 pandemic.  This research method uses descriptive analytics with a cross-sectional design, which was carried out at Porsea Hospital, Toba Regency, data collection was carried out in February 2022. Sampling is a total sampling of 48 respondents. The results of the chi-square test obtained a p-value of 0.022 < 0.05, meaning that there is a significant relationship between work stress and patient safety application and p-value 0.011 < 0.05, This means that there is a significant relationship between work shifts and the application of patient safety. The recommendations of this study for hospital management need to pay attention to the mental state of nurses and manage work shifts effectively during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Nurses play a key role in improving patient safety culture due to their continued presence around patients. Nurse performance in implementing a patient safety culture is influenced by the level of nurse work engagement. A low patient safety culture can also occur as a result of inadequate nurse staffing. This study aims to analyze the relationship of work engagement and dimensions of nurse staffing with patient safety culture at the inpatient room of RSU Porsea. The method used in this study is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. Sampling techniques used are a purposive sampling of 64 respondents. The data analysis used is Chi-Square test. The results of this study showed an overview of the level of work engagement in nurses which 21 nurses (32.8%) include in high category and 43 nurses (67.2%) in low category. The staffing dimensions revealed that 31 respondents (48.4%) answered appropriate and 33 respondents (51.6%) answered inappropriate. This study also proved that 48.4% of patient safety culture is in positive category and 51.6% is in negative category. There is a significant relationship between work engagement (p value = 0.001) and nurse staffing dimension (p value = 0.001) with patient safety culture. Hospital management is expected to provide recognition and appreciation to nurses, as well as improve the management of nurse staffing so that work engagement in nurses can be enhaced which make the application of patient safety culture can be more optimal.

Abstract

Nurses as one of the largest human resources in hospital health care institutions have an important contribution in providing nursing care. Health services can be at risk of causing patient safety incidents. This condition can be caused by the quality of the organizational climate and the ineffective implementation of handovers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between organizational climate and nurse handovers on patient safety incidents in the Porsea Hospital Inpatient Room. Analytical descriptive research design with a cross sectional approach. The sample is 45 nurses using purposive sampling. Chi Square test results obtained p-value = 0.868 There is no significant relationship between organizational climate with patient safety incidents and p-value = 0.005 There is a significant relationship between handovers and patient safety incidents. Hospitals need to pay attention to the rights of nurses, such as the issue of unequal pay and conduct ongoing evaluations of the organizational climate and the effective implementation of handovers

Abstract

Work engagement can be one of many predictors of turnover intention in nurses. Turnover intention can be minimized, so that it can reduce the nurse turnover rate in a company. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between work engagement and nurse turnover intention. This study used a cross-sectional design with chi-square test. This research was conducted in September – December 2023, with 140 nurses as the sample. The sampling technique used in this study was stratified random sampling. Based on the results of the analysis between turnover intention and work engagement has got p-value = 0.001 (p <0.05) was obtained and the results of the analysis between the characteristics of nurses and turnover intention showed has got p-value = 0.244 -0.831 (p <0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between turnover intention and work engagement at Porsea Hospital and there is no relationship between nurse characteristics and the incidence of nurse turnover intention at Porsea Hospital. It is expected that the hospital management can maintain a good level of work engagement in hope it can reduce nurse turnover rates. Hospitals can facilitate various things that support work engagement, such as a good environment, adequate compensation, and feedback   the work of nurses.
