Abstract

The selection of the right laboratory assistant is very important to support practicum activities in the laboratory. The complex selection process requires a systematic approach to assessing candidates based on various criteria, such as GPA, semester specialty, programming knowledge test, interview test. The Multi-Attributive Border Approximation Area Comparison (MABAC) method is one of the methods in multi-criteria decision-making that can be used to solve this problem. MABAC offers an effective approach to evaluating and ranking candidates based on the weight of predetermined criteria. This study implements the MABAC method in SPK for the selection of laboratory assistants, with the aim of improving objectivity and accuracy in the selection process. The results of this system show that MABAC is able to provide consistent and reliable recommendations in determining the most suitable candidates as laboratory assistants.

Abstract

Background. Mucuna pruriens and Canavalia ensiformis are two types of legumes that can be utilized as plant-based protein sources to replace soybeans. However, these plants yield less than soybeans. Aim. This study aims to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer doses on the yield and quality of M. pruriens and C. ensiformis seeds. Methods. This research was conducted in Nanggela Village, Mandirancan District, Kuningan Regency, West Java, from June to November 2024. The experimental design used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with ten treatment combinations between two species of koro beans with NPK fertilizer doses (150, 225, 300, 375, and 450 kg ha-1). Result. The research results show that applying NPK fertilizer doses does not significantly affect the N, P, and K content in jack bean or velvet bean seeds, nor the total protein and fat content. Conclusion. The weight of pods per plot and the weight of seeds per plot were significantly influenced by the NPK fertilizer dosage and the species of koro. Implementation. Fertilizing using NPK efficiently can improve crop yields, soil quality, and the nutrients present in plants.

Abstract

Background. The correlation between growth traits and yield is essential information in a plant breeding program. Jack bean and velvet bean are two legume species that have the potential to be a source of vegetable protein to replace soybeans. Aims. This study seeks to ascertain the relationship between growth component qualities and yield in jack and velvet beans subjected to varying amounts of NPK fertilizer. Methods. The research was conducted at Nanggela Village, Mandirancan District, Kuningan Regency, from June to November 2024. The administered treatments included of NPK fertilizer applications (150, 225, 300, 375, and 450 kg/ha) in conjunction with bean species (jack bean and velvet bean). The observed growth components included plant height, leaf count, stem diameter, root volume, root length, nodule count per plant, leaf area index, and relative growth rate. The observed yield components included the number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant, 100-seed weight, seed weight per plant, and seed weight per plot. The data were examined utilizing the Pearson Correlation Test to ascertain the strength of the association between growth components and yield, as well as yield components. Result. The research findings indicate a correlation among both species' stem diameter, root volume, leaf area index, pod weight, seed weight, seed count, and 100-seed weight. Conclusion. The yield components, including the number of pods per plot, the number of pods per plant, the weight of pods per plot, and the weight of pods per plant, are significantly correlated with the weight of 100 seeds and the weight of seeds per plot in the velvet bean. Implementation. The character of stem diameter and leaf area index can be used to select high-yielding koro plants. Indirect selection in jack bean can also be done through plant height and leaf number characteristics. In velvet beans, indirect selection can be carried out through yield component traits.

Abstract

Jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis L.) and velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens L.) are local legume species with significant potential as sources of plant-based protein. To date, both species have primarily been utilized as sources of animal feed, green manure, and cover crops. This study aims to evaluate the effects of NPK fertilizer on the growth and yield of the two legume species. The experiment was conducted in Nanggela Village, Mandirancan District, Kuningan Regency, from June to November 2024. The experimental design used was a Randomized complete block design with treatments combining legume species (Jack bean and velvet bean) with NPK fertilizer applied at rates of 150, 225, 300, 375, and 450 kg ha-1. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, root length, root volume, leaf area index, relative growth rate, net assimilation rate, number of pods per plot, number of seeds per pod, weight of 100 seeds, and weight of seeds per plot. The results showed that the combination of species and NPK fertilizer doses significantly affected the growth and yield of koro plants. The best results were obtained from the treatment of jack bean with a dose of NPK fertilizer of 300 kg ha-1. Semua perlakuan diulang tiga kali sehingga terdapat 30 satuan percobaan.
