Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of family in fostering Catholic religious knowledge for children’s personality development using George Herbert Mead’s sociological theory. Mead believes that the formation of individual personality is inseparable from social interactions that take place in the family environment. Through the concepts of “self” and “generalized other”, family, as the child’s closest social environment, plays an important role in the socialization process of Catholic religious values and teachings. This article employs a qualitative method by interviewing several Catholic families in Saint Joseph Parish, Poka-Rumahtiga. The results showed that families, especially parents, have a central role in introducing, teaching, and instilling Catholic religious knowledge and practices to children. This process occurs through symbolic interactions between children and parents and other family members. Children then develop self-understanding (self) and internalize the role of “others” (generalized other) in the context of Catholic religious teachings, which ultimately shapes children’s personality and morality in accordance with Catholic values

Abstract

According to Lévi-Strauss, there are two different structural models of marriage exchange. First, the women of Ego's group areoffered to another group explicitly defined by social institutions. This is the elementary structure of kinship. Secondly, the group ofpossible spouses for the women in ego's group is "indetermined and always open", with exclusion, however, of certain kin-people.Lévi-Strauss calls these latter complex structures of kinship. The model of Levi-Strauss attempts to offer a single explanation forcross-cousin marriage, sister-exchange, dual organisation and rules of exogamy. Marriage rules over the times create social structures, as marriages are primarily forged between groups and not just between the two individuals involved

Abstract

The relationship between the ship and society in Nusantara has become the focus in recent years of many studies by archaeologists, historians, and anthropologists. The nature of this relationship is essential to the understanding of the traditional structure of the village and of the society. In very simplified terms the question posed boils down to the following: how can we explain the relation between the ship and the traditional society? How can we find the ideas of a ship in the governance structure of traditional society?

Abstract

Using filed study, I chose Lumefar village, a small village in the south of Kei Kecil Island. For the society of Lumefar, the most important relationship is the relationship by marriage (yan'ur-mang'ohoi). This relationship unites two Houses; and each House has several yan'ur- mang'ohoi relations with other Houses. But the ideal model of this relation has changed. In this paper, I intend to explain this metamorphosis. The society of Lumefar apparently has moved from the elementary structure of kinship to the complex structure of kinship.

Abstract

The Catholic Church considers that marriage is a covenant between men and women that from between the whole life togetherness. This is why, in the Catholic view, the marriage is one and cannot be divorced. Therefore, the Catholic Church always doing preparation for those who will be solemnized their marriage. This article is an effort to explain catechesis of marriage preparation in St. Joseph’ Parish in the Diocese of Amboina. Usingqualitative methods, it is suspected to find accurate data on the implementation of catechetical marriage preparation in St. Joseph’ Paris.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to achieve an understanding of the marital problems of Catholics that occurred in the Tanimbar in the Diocese of Amboina. In this research, we used social methods, namely qualitative research method. The reason behind this research is this method can help to describe the life of people from within, from the point of understanding of the person being studied. Thus, the result of this study present a better understanding of issues surrounding marriage and how religious view affect people, who are practicing their marital life.

Abstract

Sunat secara umum senantiasa berhubungan dengan upacara keagamaan, baik itu dalam hubungan dengan agama Islam maupun keyakinan-keyakinan yang dipegang dan dipraktekkan masyarakat tradisional. Di desa Batlale Pulau Buru, masyarakat mempraktekkan pula. Dengan menggunakan penelitian kualitatif, ditemukan bahwa sunat yang dipraktekkan memiliki kemiripan dengan ritus inisiasi sebagaimana yang dijelaskan oleh Arnold van Gennep.

Abstract

Tulisan ini adalah usaha untuk menjawab krtitikan bahwa damai di Kota Ambon baru pada level seremonial. Apakah faktanya memang demikian? Apakah bukan justru sebaliknya, kegiatan dan perayaan keagamaan, yang telah melibatkan bagitu banyak orang dari komunitas agama yang berbeda telah menunjukkan betapa majunya kerukunan dan kedamaian di Kota Ambon dan Maluku? Dengan memanfaatkan studi literatur dan memperlihatkan apa yang terjadi di Kota Ambon, diperlihatkan bahwa kegiatan dan upacara keagamaan dapat menjadi sarana perjumpaan antar komunitas-komunitas yang berbeda agama.

Abstract

Masyarakat Kei adalah masyarakat yang berpegang teguh pada nilai- nilai warisan leluhur. Dalam konteks pergaulan antar muda-mudi, masyarakat Kei menjunjung tinggi sikap hormat kepada perempuan. Setiap tindakan yang merugikan pihak perempuan, akan berujung pada sangsi adat. Ini berarti masyarakat Kei dalam menjaga nilai– nilai sosial telah menetapkan sebuah tradisi yang disebut harta buang atau denda adat yang harus dibayarkan oleh laki-laki. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini menjelaskan tentang 1) tradisi harta buang menurut masyarakat Ngefuit Atas; 2) praktek tradisi harta buang dalam masyarakat Ohoi Ngefuit Atas; dan 3) nilai-nilai tradisional masyarakat Kei, khususnya hormat kepada perempuan.

Abstract

Berbekal analisis Danièle Hervieu-Léger dalam bukunya Le pèlerin et le converti (peziarah dan pertobatan), tulisan ini adalah sebuah usaha untuk menjelaskan latarbelakang kehidupan keagamaan di Eropa yang dilanda globalisasi dan individualiasi dalam kehidupan keagamaan. Atas dasar uraian tersebut, coba dipahami kenyataan keagamaan di Indonesia.
