Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes the role of the carbon market in achieving Net Zero Emissions, focusing on how carbon credit development and tropical forest conservation can create new economic opportunities in Indonesia.Method: This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, using a case study of the REDD+ project in Indonesia. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with various stakeholders, including government officials, local communities, and environmental organizations. Thematic analysis was utilized to identify key patterns related to the economic benefits and technical challenges of the carbon market.Result: The study finds that the carbon market can provide substantial economic benefits through carbon credit trading, attracting investments in green technology and sustainability programs. It also has the potential to raise awareness of the importance of conserving tropical forests as critical carbon sinks. However, challenges such as regulatory gaps, limited community participation in decision-making, and technological constraints for monitoring and reporting must be addressed.Practical Implications for Economic Growth and Development: Indonesia can harness the carbon market to drive sustainable economic growth while supporting environmental preservation and global carbon emission reductions. Active stakeholder engagement, technological capacity building, and regulatory strengthening are crucial for the successful implementation of the carbon market in the future.

Abstract

The Mediating Role of Tourist Attraction in the Relationship Between Infrastructure Revitalization, Area Aesthetic Revitalization, and Tourists' Visit Intention in Ampenan Old Town Abstract Area revitalization has become one of the main strategies employed by governments to improve destination quality and strengthen sustainable tourism development. Kota Tua Ampenan, a historical district in Mataram City, possesses considerable cultural and coastal tourism potential; however, inadequate infrastructure and declining environmental aesthetics continue to limit its attractiveness to visitors. This study aims to analyze the influence of infrastructure revitalization and aesthetic revitalization on tourists' intention to visit through tourism attractiveness as a mediating variable. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey of 100 respondents who had visited Kota Tua Ampenan. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability before being analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling--Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that infrastructure revitalization has a positive and significant effect on tourism attractiveness (β = 0.346; p < 0.05). Likewise, aesthetic revitalization significantly improves tourism attractiveness (β = 0.574; p < 0.05). Tourism attractiveness also has a positive and significant influence on visiting intention (β = 0.435; p < 0.05). However, infrastructure revitalization (β = 0.105; p > 0.05) and aesthetic revitalization (β = 0.136; p > 0.05) do not directly influence visiting intention. The R² values for tourism attractiveness and visiting intention are 0.489 and 0.549, respectively. Tourism attractiveness significantly mediates the relationship between both infrastructure revitalization and aesthetic revitalization toward visiting intention. These findings imply that physical improvements alone are insufficient to encourage tourist visits unless they simultaneously enhance the overall attractiveness of the destination.
