Abstract

The project-based learning model (Project-Based Learning, PBL) has been implemented in Vocational High Schools (SMK) with the aim of improving the quality of learning and student learning outcomes, especially in terms of critical thinking skills. This research aims to explore the implementation of PBL, identify the challenges and obstacles faced, and analyze its impact on student learning outcomes. The research method used is a literature review which examines various studies and articles related to PBL in vocational schools. The research results show that the implementation of PBL in vocational schools has a positive impact on increasing students' engagement, learning motivation and critical thinking abilities. Students who engage in PBL show improvements in analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities. However, there are various challenges that hinder the effective implementation of PBL, including limited resources, teacher readiness and competency, assessment complexity, and lack of institutional support. To overcome these challenges, increased training and support for teachers, development of infrastructure and resources, and stronger institutional support are needed. In addition, flexibility in the curriculum and strengthening the assessment system are also important to ensure the success of PBL. By overcoming these obstacles, PBL can be an effective learning method in developing vocational school students' critical, creative and collaborative thinking skills, preparing them for challenges in the world of work and real life.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of teacher training programs on improving the quality of teaching in Vocational High Schools (SMK). The research method used is a qualitative approach by collecting data through in-depth interviews, observation and document analysis from several vocational schools in Indonesia. The research results show that the teacher training program makes a significant contribution to increasing pedagogical competence, the application of technology in learning, more effective classroom management, and increasing teacher motivation and job satisfaction. Factors that influence the effectiveness of training programs include the quality of instructors, relevance of training materials, support and facilities from schools, teacher motivation, training methods, and ongoing evaluation and feedback. The relevance of training materials to teaching needs is very important to ensure that teachers acquire knowledge and skills that are in accordance with applicable curriculum requirements and competency standards. Based on these findings, it is recommended to improve the quality and competence of instructors, prepare relevant training materials, provide full support from schools, increase teacher motivation and commitment, and carry out regular evaluation and program adjustments. With these steps, it is hoped that teacher training programs in vocational schools can be more effective in improving teacher professionalism and the overall quality of education.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the development of Vocational High Schools (SMK) based on regional potential and workforce needs in Indonesia. This study explores the relevance of the vocational school curriculum to regional potential and the needs of the local job market, identifies the challenges faced in developing regional potential-based education programs, and analyzes the influence of vocational school collaboration, industry and government on the quality of graduates and employment. The research method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation and document analysis. The research results show that the relevance of the vocational school curriculum to regional potential and local workforce needs still varies in various regions, with some vocational schools in urban areas succeeding in adapting their curriculum, while vocational schools in rural areas still face obstacles. The main challenges identified include limited facilities and infrastructure, lack of competent teaching staff, limited collaboration with industry, and suboptimal government support. This research also found that good cooperation between vocational schools, industry and government has a positive impact on the quality of graduates and employment. Based on these findings, this research recommends adjusting the curriculum, improving facilities and infrastructure, training and professional development for teachers, increasing collaboration with industry, and more optimal government support. By implementing these recommendations, it is hoped that vocational schools in Indonesia can develop into quality vocational education institutions capable of producing graduates who are ready to work and are competitive in the global market.
