Abstract

Geospatial intelligence all activities involved in planning, collecting, processing, analyzing, exploiting, and disseminating spatial information obtained to gain intelligence about the national security or operational environment, and providing visual representation this knowledge. Geospatial intelligence plays important role in disaster monitoring by providing critical insight information that supports disaster risk reduction and management. Addition to monitoring disasters geospatial intelligence indispensable for monitoring natural resources and potential of each geographic area to optimize all natural resources. Last also plays role in law enforcement, for example the sea where sea is monitored and found violations can harm many parties so that the importance of geospatial intelligence is very helpful to various parties of course also for defense, state security. This research is a systematic literature review that explains the role of geospatial intelligence dealing with military and non-military threats, namely Geospatial Information Systems combined with NASA MERRA-2 hourly global wind speed data and DTU Global Wind Atlas that spatially resolved to characterize the potential for onshore wind energy globally in order to optimally obtain the potential for geography in non-military threats, the concept of military operations aims to secure a country's sea by involving various technologies and intelligence to protect rights and resources

Abstract

This study examines strategic leadership transformation in addressing non-traditional security threats in Indonesia and develops an adaptive strategic leadership framework by integrating transformational leadership, adaptive leadership, and legitimacy theory. A qualitative narrative literature review was conducted on 56 Scopus- and ScienceDirect-indexed articles (2015–2026). The selected articles were analyzed thematically through data reduction, categorization, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that transformational and adaptive leadership improve defense-organization performance, while non-traditional threats require more flexible leadership approaches. The Indonesian context presents challenges related to civil–military dynamics, defense coordination, cyber threats, disinformation, and public legitimacy. The study concludes that effective transformation requires the integration of leadership capacity, institutional synergy, and social legitimacy to strengthen responses to non-traditional security threats. This study is limited by its reliance on secondary literature from two databases and the absence of primary empirical data, requiring future validation through field studies. This study contributes to leadership and defense studies by contextualizing adaptive strategic leadership in Indonesia and providing practical insights for defense institutions in managing emerging security challenges.

Abstract

Drugs trafficking via Indonesia's sea routes continues to increase, making the Sunda Strait one of the most vulnerable points for inter-island smuggling. Conventional surveillance using patrol boats is often ineffective due to limitations in range, weather, and response time. This study was conducted to evaluate the potential and effectiveness of utilizing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology in detecting and preventing drug trafficking in the Sunda Strait maritime region. The study used a qualitative approach through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that examined previous research results, national policies, and the implementation of UAVs in maritime security. The analysis was carried out by grouping the findings into four main themes, namely the effectiveness of UAVs in maritime surveillance, technical and operational constraints, integration with national security systems, and institutional policies and regulations. The results of the study show that UAVs can double the effectiveness of surveillance through real-time visual detection capabilities, wide coverage, and integration with radar and AIS systems. However, technical challenges such as battery life, extreme weather, and operator limitations still need to be overcome. The study concludes that the integrated application of UAVs, supported by strong institutional policies, can strengthen the national maritime security system and narrow the space for drug smuggling networks in the Sunda Strait.

Abstract

Indonesia's forests play a strategic role in maintaining ecosystem balance, but increasing deforestation and land degradation have increased the risk of environmental disasters, particularly flooding in Sumatra. As scientific attention has increased, research on Indonesian forests has grown rapidly but remains multidisciplinary and fragmented. This study aims to map the knowledge structure, thematic dynamics, and patterns of global collaboration in deforestation and disaster research in Indonesia, and to examine the integration of digital transformation into these studies. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach through bibliometric analysis of 175 Scopus-indexed journal articles extracted using the keyword "Indonesian forest." The analysis was conducted using VOSviewer to map keyword co-occurrence and author collaboration by country, and to interpret the role of digital technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and spatial analysis. The analysis shows that deforestation and forest fires are dominant themes closely related to disaster risk, air pollution, and health impacts. Digital technologies, particularly remote sensing and GIS, have become key methodological components in forest cover monitoring, carbon emission analysis, and flood-prone area mapping in Sumatra. Indonesia occupies a central position in global collaboration networks, with strong involvement from countries with high technological capacity, although the use of predictive and early warning systems remains relatively limited. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of bibliometric analysis with disaster and digital transformation perspectives, linking the thematic structure of research, international collaboration patterns, and their implications for flood mitigation in Sumatra. These findings provide important contributions to the development of forestry research and policy, and the strengthening of digital transformation in forest management and disaster risk reduction in Indonesia.
