Abstract

This study investigated the perceptions and experiences of EFL students using Character AI in their English learning process. Character AI, an advanced chatbot service designed for human-like interactions, offers potential benefits in language education. A qualitative approach was employed, involving 15 junior high school students at SMP Negeri 3 Magelang who interacted with Character AI for a 40-minute session. Data were collected through report cards and classroom observations and analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings indicate that students found Character AI engaging and enjoyable, enhancing their motivation and participation in learning English. The AI provided personalized feedback and realtime corrections, contributing to noticeable improvements in students' grammar and sentence construction skills. This study highlights the potential of Character AI as a valuable educational tool in EFL classrooms, emphasizing its role in enhancing student engagement, motivation, and participation while offering personalized feedback and real-time corrections

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the basic skills of village-owned enterprise (BUMDes) homestay managers in the Borobudur area in writing and producing digital content as a community-based tourism branding strategy. The program will be held over four months (September–December 2025) and will involve 15 participants. The implementation method includes four training sessions and ten activities: bilingual training, local cultural history narrative training, content creation training, and videography and photography training. The ten activities are: Human Resource Observation and Mapping, Bilingual Public Service Simulation, Field Observation of Local Cultural and Historical Sites, Compiling Local Cultural History Narratives, Producing Promotional and Cultural Content, Publication and Social Media Management, Field Photo Shoots, Field Documentation, Short Profile Video Production, and Work Exhibitions and Presentations. The results of the community service program indicate that the integration of bilingual training, cultural narrative training, content creation, and videography and photography training effectively increased participants' knowledge, technical skills, confidence, and cultural awareness within the context of service delivery and tourism village promotion. Such training can also be used as an effective and sustainable strategy to increase the competitiveness of community-based creative economies in tourism villages.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada warga sekolah ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi mengenai pencegahan bullying serta menumbuhkan sikap peduli di kalangan siswa SMP. Seminar Anti Bullying dengan tema “Stop Bullying, Start Caring” dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 2 Mertoyudan pada tanggal 15 Agustus 2025 dengan peserta sebanyak 220 siswa kelas VII. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui ceramah interaktif oleh narasumber dari Duta GenRe Kabupaten Magelang, sesi diskusi dan tanya jawab yang melibatkan siswa dalam memahami berbagai bentuk bullying, dampak yang ditimbulkan, serta strategi pencegahannya. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa seminar berjalan dengan lancar, partisipasi siswa sangat aktif, dan pemahaman mereka mengenai bahaya bullying meningkat. Selain itu, luaran berupa Mading Wall of Kindness berhasil diwujudkan sebagai media kampanye berkelanjutan yang berfungsi menanamkan pesan positif, meningkatkan keterampilan menulis dan bekerja sama, serta memperkuat budaya sekolah yang ramah anak. Kehadiran mading tersebut memberi dampak nyata karena mampu menyuarakan pesan anti bullying secara konsisten dan partisipatif. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini dapat dinyatakan berhasil dalam mencapai tujuannya, yaitu meningkatkan kesadaran siswa terhadap bahaya bullying, mendorong sikap empati, serta menciptakan lingkungan sekolah yang aman, nyaman, dan saling menghargai.
