Abstract

Agroecological approach in agricultural land management is increasingly important to achieve sustainability in the agricultural sector. This study aims to evaluate the physical properties of soil on agroecological-based agricultural land compared to conventional agricultural land. The parameters measured include soil texture, structure, porosity, water retention capacity and infiltration rate. The research results show that agroecological land has better physical soil quality, characterized by a more crumbly soil structure, higher porosity and water retention capacity, and a better infiltration rate than conventional land. This increase is due to agroecological management practices that emphasize the use of organic materials and soil conservation. The conclusions of this research indicate that an agroecological approach can improve soil health and has the potential to support sustainable agricultural productivity. The results of this research support further implementation of agroecological practices to improve soil quality on agricultural land.

Abstract

Basic mathematics plays a crucial role in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of modern agricultural techniques. The application of mathematical concepts such as algebra, geometry, statistics, and calculus allows for more accurate decision making in various aspects of agriculture. Optimizing resource use, analyzing crop yield data, managing irrigation systems, and land mapping are some examples of applications of mathematics that have been proven to be able to increase agricultural efficiency by up to 30% in certain scenarios. This article discusses how the integration of mathematics in agricultural practices can increase productivity and contribute to more sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) plants. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with a direct observational approach, interviews with farmers and agricultural extension workers, and visual documentation of plant growth over four weeks. The results showed that pakcoy plants treated with liquid organic fertilizer experienced better vegetative growth, including increased plant height, more leaves, darker green leaf color, and higher yield compared to untreated plants. The fertilizer used contains essential macro and micronutrients and phytohormones that accelerate plant growth. Moreover, the use of this fertilizer improves soil conditions and supports sustainable agricultural practices. The study concludes that liquid organic fertilizer significantly contributes to increasing the productivity of pakcoy plants both ecologically and economically.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the differences in plant growth placed in bright and dark places. Light is one of the important factors in photosynthesis, which plays a direct role in plant growth and development. In this study, several plant samples from the same species were grown in controlled environmental conditions and placed in two different locations: a bright place with direct access to sunlight, and a dark place that did not receive any light at all. The parameters measured included plant height, number of leaves, and leaf color during a certain period. The results showed that plants placed in bright places had more optimal growth than plants in dark places. Plants in bright places showed a significant increase in height, a greater number of leaves, and fresh green leaf color. In contrast, plants in dark places tended to have stunted growth with pale or yellowish leaf color. This study confirms the importance of light as a key factor in plant growth, and provides insight into plant management in various environmental conditions.

Abstract

Nitrogen is an essential nutrient that plays an important role in chlorophyll formation and photosynthesis. This study aimed to determine the effect of nitrogen fertilization on photosynthesis rate, chlorophyll content, and growth of maize (Zea mays L.). The research was conducted from October to December 2025 in Dahana Village, Universitas Nias, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four nitrogen levels and five replications. Observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, and plant dry weight. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and LSD test at the 5% level. The results showed that nitrogen fertilization significantly affected maize growth by increasing plant height, leaf number, and dry weight. However, excessive nitrogen application did not always result in optimal growth. Therefore, appropriate nitrogen fertilization is required to support optimal maize growth.
