Abstract

Agroecological approach in agricultural land management is increasingly important to achieve sustainability in the agricultural sector. This study aims to evaluate the physical properties of soil on agroecological-based agricultural land compared to conventional agricultural land. The parameters measured include soil texture, structure, porosity, water retention capacity and infiltration rate. The research results show that agroecological land has better physical soil quality, characterized by a more crumbly soil structure, higher porosity and water retention capacity, and a better infiltration rate than conventional land. This increase is due to agroecological management practices that emphasize the use of organic materials and soil conservation. The conclusions of this research indicate that an agroecological approach can improve soil health and has the potential to support sustainable agricultural productivity. The results of this research support further implementation of agroecological practices to improve soil quality on agricultural land.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the optimal planting distance for increasing horticultural crop productivity. Through a comprehensive literature review, the research highlights the role of plant spacing in improving photosynthesis, nutrient uptake, and crop yield. Findings indicate that efficient spacing significantly enhances resource use efficiency, reduces competition among plants, and mitigates risks such as pest outbreaks and nutrient deficiencies. The study also emphasizes the use of precision agriculture technologies, such as GIS and IoT-based tools, to customize planting distances for various crops and environmental conditions. These insights are expected to contribute to sustainable agricultural practices that optimize land use while maintaining environmental balance.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of seed soaking duration on the growth rate of water spinach (Ipomoea reptans) and to determine the most effective soaking period. The study applied an experimental method with two treatments: P1 (6 hours of soaking) and P2 (12 hours of soaking), each using 15 seeds planted in black soil media within recycled plastic bottles. Observations were made for seven days, focusing on the timing of initial germination, the number of seeds that sprouted each day, and the average plant height. The results showed that seeds soaked for 6 hours (P1) exhibited faster and more uniform germination compared to those soaked for 12 hours (P2). P1 also produced slightly taller plants on average. Therefore, a 6-hour soaking period proved more effective in enhancing the early growth of water spinach seeds in a simple cultivation setting.
