Abstract

Motivation plays an important role in seeking knowledge in Islam. This study examines the concept of motivation in Islamic teachings, especially in educational contexts, through the analysis of relevant hadiths. In Islamic teachings, motivation is referred to as "al niiyat" or intention, and every action depends on the intention behind it. Educational motivation is defined as the conscious intention or desire of an adult or educator to guide the physical and spiritual development of students towards the formation of a personality that is balanced with science. These hadiths emphasize that if someone seeks knowledge with good intentions, Allah will make his path to heaven easier. Seeking knowledge that is beneficial for oneself and fellow humans is beneficial both in this world and in the afterlife. Islam strongly recommends learning, and these hadiths are the main driving force in seeking knowledge. The study confirms that if a person tries and learns sincerely, Allah will appreciate his efforts and provide an understanding of His knowledge. These hadiths also confirm the position of people with knowledge is higher than that of people without knowledge, with the promise of a high degree of honor and degree for those who combine knowledge with good deeds. This study emphasizes the importance of motivation in Islamic education and the spiritual and worldly benefits of seeking knowledge with pure intentions.

Abstract

This research explores the schools and paradigms of thought of classical Muslim figures regarding education in Islam, with a focus on Ibn Sina, Al-Farabi, and Al-Ghazali. Each figure makes a significant contribution to understanding education. Ibn Sina emphasized a holistic approach, where education aims to develop moral, physical and intellectual aspects in a balanced manner. Al-Farabi linked education to philosophy, emphasizing the important role of the state in creating an education system that supports individual and societal happiness. Meanwhile, Al-Ghazali focuses on moral and spiritual education, emphasizing that the main goal of education is the formation of character and closeness to God. These findings show that the thinking of this classical figure remains relevant in the context of modern education, where an approach is needed that not only prioritizes intellectual aspects, but also moral and spiritual aspects. This research is expected to contribute to the development of more holistic and sustainable Islamic education.

Abstract

This study analyzes the principal's strategy in improving teacher discipline at MI Al-Azizy Daleman Karduluk, a private madrasah with limited facilities. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation of the principal and teachers. The results of the study revealed four effective strategies: (1) spiritual motivation based on religious values ("teaching as worship") which builds teachers' intrinsic commitment; (2) concrete role models of the principal through consistent time discipline; (3) empowerment of teachers with additional tasks to create a sense of belonging; and (4) supervision of learning administration as a control mechanism. The main supporting factors include family ties between teachers as alumni of the foundation and consistent role models of leaders, while limited teacher welfare and variations in individual awareness are significant challenges. These findings strengthen the theory of transformational leadership and social learning in the context of Islamic education, showing that non-material approaches (spiritual, relational, and role models) are able to overcome limited material resources. This study provides practical contributions for private madrasah managers in developing a model of teacher discipline coaching that is adaptive to local conditions.
