Abstract

Background: Pharmacists' responsibilities have shifted over time. Pharmacists have grown increasingly clinically involved in patient care from delivering pharmaceuticals throughout the healthcare system. These developments may have influenced pharmacists' job satisfaction. This is significant since performance, motivation, and productivity are positively associated with job happiness, whereas a lack of job satisfaction may hurt patient care and safety and increase job turnover. Objectives: To analyze the factors affecting job satisfaction among community pharmacists in South Sulawesi. Methods: This research uses quantitative and analytical observational research with a cross-sectional study design. This research was conducted from mid-January to mid-March of 2024, with the research subject being community pharmacists who worked at pharmacies, primary healthcare, and clinics in the South Sulawesi region. Research instruments are distributed to each IAI branch management in South Sulawesi via Google Forms. The instruments used in this research were sociodemography, pharmacist service characteristics, and the job satisfaction questionnaire (VIJS Instrument). The analysis used is univariate analysis (descriptive), bivariate analysis (independent T-test), and multivariate analysis (multiple regression linear analysis). Results: The general result of this research is satisfied based on the mean score (3.8±0.8). The lowest mean score from both factors is monthly income (3.1±1.1) and learning and advancement opportunity (3.3±1.1). The regression analysis indicated that factors affecting job satisfaction among community pharmacists in South Sulawesi are monthly income (p=0.025), working period (p=0.019), number of patients per day (p=0.008), and number of prescriptions per day (p=0.005).Conclusion: Community pharmacists in South Sulawesi are satisfied with their work, and their satisfaction level is affected by monthly income, working period, the number of patients per day, and the number of prescriptions per day.

Abstract

Background: Women's breast cancer was identified as the primary contributor to global cancer cases. This condition puts a significant economic burden on both society and the healthcare system, with the highest expenses related to medical treatment costs. Objectives: The study aims to review the willingness to pay (WTP) for breast cancer screening and the factors influencing it.Methods: Four databases (Scopus, PubMed, ProQuest, and Google Scholar) were used to search related articles that mentioned the WTP for breast cancer screening. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) guideline was used to execute this systematic review study. Finally, 11 articles were included in this study. The quality of reviewed studies was assessed using a JBI cross-sectional study and a JBI quasi-experimental study. Results: The study found that the WTP value for breast cancer screening varied from $1 to $500 in Iran, Malaysia, Singapore, the US, and Canada. Most studies explained that willingness to pay and willingness to take breast cancer screening were affected by sociodemographic aspects such as family history of ovarian or breast cancer, income status, education status, age, and marital status. Conclusion: Governmental authorities should consider the implementation of a breast cancer screening program or explore cost-sharing mechanisms for breast screening, to mitigate the incidence of breast cancer.

Abstract

Background: Improving the quality of public health cannot be separated from the role of pharmacists who are responsible for providing pharmaceutical services. Pharmacists' long working hours and great responsibility impact how satisfied they feel with their jobs. Objectives: This study  aims to determine the level of job satisfaction and identify the variables that affect community pharmacists' job satisfaction in West Java. Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted in mid-December 2022 to mid-February 2023 with research subjects community pharmacists working in pharmacies, primary health centers or clinics in the West Java region. A convenience sampling technique was used for selecting a community pharmacist. This study involved 145 community pharmacists and used a semi-structured questionnaire, Warr-Cook-Wall satisfaction scale and implemented the Likert scale to describe pharmacists’ job satisfaction of community pharmacists in West Java. The analysis used is univariate analysis (descriptive and distribution analysis) and bivariate analysis (multiple regression linear analysis). Results: Most community pharmacists in West Java are more satisfied with the variables in the intrinsic factor (3.0±0.66) than extrinsic factors (3.0±0.70). However, their satisfaction is still low on recognition (2.9±0.7) and income (2.7±0.8). Community pharmacists' job satisfaction is influenced by pharmacy ownership type (p=0.04) and working hour (p=0.05). The regression analysis indicates that working hour had negatively influenced job satisfaction. Conclusion: Community pharmacists feel satisfied with their job, and their satisfaction level is affected by pharmacy working hours.
