Abstract

Introduction: The incidence of neonatal jaundice at Wajak Husada General Hospital, Malang, was recorded to increase in 2023. In the same year, cesarean section deliveries (SC deliveries) at Wajak Husada General Hospital also increased. However, the results of previous research regarding the relationship between SC delivery and the incidence of neonatal jaundice still need to be found. This study aimed to determine the relationship between SC delivery and the incidence of neonatal jaundice in neonates at RSU Wajak Husada in 2023. Methods: This research was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. Sampling in this study used a case-control technique with a sample size of 172 neonates. Results: Crosstabulation results showed that more respondents from the neonatal jaundice group (66.7%) had a CS delivery status than those without neonatal jaundice (28.9%). The chi-square test results showed that the status of SC delivery and the incidence of neonatal jaundice had a p-value of 0.000. The OR calculation results showed that respondents with a history of SC delivery were 4.909 times more likely to experience neonatal jaundice than those with a history of natural delivery (95% CI 2.556 – 9.428). Conclusion: There is a relationship between SC delivery and the incidence of neonatal jaundice in neonates at RSU Wajak Husada in 2023.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is considered a national concern as it mirrors the social and economic well-being of the population and significantly impacts the quality of human capital. It is often referred to as a “potential risk to both mother and child.” This study employed a qualitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental design, specifically utilizing a one-group pretest-posttest format. An initial assessment (pretest) was conducted prior to the intervention, followed by a post-intervention assessment (posttest) to evaluate any changes resulting from the treatment. The sampling method for this research used a non- probability sampling method with total sampling. To determine the sample in this research, the Slovin formula was used. The results of hypothesis testing using the paired t test obtained p(sig.) 0.000 <0.05, then H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected, meaning there was a significant difference in the mean value of the pretest score (Hb level before being given mackerel) and posttest results (Hb levels after being given mackerel), so it can be concluded that there is an influence of consumption of mackerel on change in hemoglobin level in pregnant women with anemia. The findings of the study indicate that anemia in pregnant women is caused by multiple factors, with one key contributor being inadequate iron levels in the body, along with a reduction in red blood cell count or a lowered hemoglobin concentration in the bloodstream. During pregnancy, anemia occurs because pregnant women experience hemodilution (dilution).

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy marks the onset of a biological process that starts with the release of an egg, followed by its fertilization, implantation in the uterus, and continues with the growth and development of the fetus until birth. Every phase of pregnancy presents a critical period that demands both mental and physical adaptation due to hormonal changes and the bodily strain from the expanding uterus and surrounding tissues. Among the earliest signs experienced are nausea and vomiting, which may stem from either psychological stress or physiological shifts. The purpose of this research is to examine how lavender aromatherapy influences nausea and vomiting among women in their first trimester of pregnancy. Method: This research employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-test post-test approach without a control group. The study involved comparing the participants' scores before and after the intervention. A total of 24 first-trimester pregnant women were selected as participants using purposive sampling, with data collected through questionnaire forms. This indicates that there was a measurable difference between the pre-test and post-test outcomes. Therefore, it can be concluded that lavender aromatherapy had a beneficial impact in alleviating nausea and vomiting among first-trimester pregnant women in Lebakharjo Village, Ampelgading in 2025. Conclusion: Lavender aromatherapy may serve as an alternative non-pharmacological approach to help relieve nausea and vomiting in women during the first trimester of pregnancy.
