Abstract

This community service activity aims to optimize Physical Education learning through a physical activity training and mentoring program at the IMMIM Islamic Boarding School Senior High School. The background to this activity is the limited variety of learning conducted by teachers and the low involvement of students in physical activities due to the busy academic and religious routines at the Islamic boarding school. The implementation method is carried out through four stages: preparation, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The preparation stage is carried out by developing training modules and evaluation instruments, while the training stage focuses on improving teacher competency and introducing a variety of physical activities to students. Mentoring is carried out directly during the lesson, followed by an evaluation to assess the effectiveness of the program. The results of the activity indicate that teachers gained increased knowledge and skills in managing more creative and enjoyable Physical Education learning. Meanwhile, students showed increased motivation and active participation in physical activities, and a culture of healthy and active living began to form in the Islamic boarding school environment. Overall, this community service program was able to make a real contribution to improving the quality of Physical Education learning while supporting the achievement of educational goals holistically. This activity is recommended to be continued on an ongoing basis and expanded to other schools with adjustments based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model latihan shooting olahraga petanque berbasis drill progresif terhadap peningkatan akurasi mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Keolahragaan dan Kesehatan Universitas Negeri Makassar (FIKK UNM). Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen melalui desain one group pretest–posttest. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 20 mahasiswa yang mengikuti pembinaan cabang olahraga petanque. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes akurasi shooting petanque yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Perlakuan diberikan melalui program latihan shooting berbasis drill progresif yang dilaksanakan secara terstruktur dan bertahap. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji t berpasangan pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rata-rata akurasi shooting mahasiswa dari 18,45 pada pretest menjadi 24,80 pada posttest. Hasil uji t berpasangan menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai pretest dan posttest (t = 7,214; p < 0,001). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa model latihan shooting berbasis drill progresif berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan akurasi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi pengembangan model latihan teknik petanque di lingkungan perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

Optimizing pre-exercise routines is critical for enhancing athletic performance in higher education sports programs. This study investigated the acute effects of three different warm-up protocols—self-myofascial release via foam rolling (SMR), dynamic stretching (DS), and a combined SMR+DS protocol—on functional performance parameters in university soccer players. Using a randomized crossover experimental design, 60 male sports science students from Universitas Negeri Makassar underwent three testing sessions separated by a 48-hour washout period from February to April. Performance metrics evaluated included flexibility (sit-and-reach), explosive power (vertical jump), speed (20-meter sprint), and agility (Illinois agility test). Repeated measures ANOVA revealed that the combined SMR+DS protocol yielded the highest significant improvements in agility (p < 0.05) and speed (p < 0.05) compared to standalone interventions. While SMR significantly enhanced flexibility without compromising vertical jump height, the integration of DS following myofascial release provided a synergetic potentiation effect on neuromuscular performance. These findings demonstrate that a sequential combination of SMR and dynamic stretching optimizes acute functional performance. Consequently, coaches and educators should integrate combined warm-up strategies into higher education soccer curricula to maximize explosive power and mechanical efficiency during high-intensity intermittent activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between biomechanical and physiological variables on sprint performance in short-distance runners. A total of 20 male athletes aged 18–21 years were the subjects. Biomechanical data were obtained through video analysis of sprint movements, including stride length, stride frequency, joint angles, and foot contact time. While physiological aspects were measured through vertical jump tests and Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST). Sprint times at distances of 30 and 60 meters were used as performance indicators. The results showed a significant correlation between stride length, foot contact time, cold muscle strength, and anaerobic capacity with sprint time (p <0.05). A negative correlation was found in stride length and muscle strength, while foot contact time showed a positive correlation. These findings confirm that sprint efficiency is greatly influenced by a combination of good biomechanical techniques and optimal physiological capacity. The conclusion of this study is that the development of an effective sprint training program must include an integrated approach between movement technique training and physical condition, to optimize running performance to the maximum.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out with the aim of improving the competence of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PESH) teachers in developing interactive learning media based on digital technology. Many PESH  teachers at KKGO Manggala, Makassar City, still use conventional methods and face limitations in the use of digital media, resulting in less than optimal learning in attracting student interest and motivation. This training is designed to provide theoretical knowledge, practical practice, and hands-on experience in designing interactive learning media relevant to PESH material. The implementation method of the activity includes preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. In the preparation stage, modules are prepared and coordination with KKGO administrators is carried out. The implementation stage includes material presentations, practical workshops on creating media using applications such as Canva and interactive PowerPoint, and intensive mentoring in product development. Furthermore, evaluation is carried out through pre-tests, post-tests, observations, and reflections with participants. The results of the activity show a significant increase in teacher knowledge and skills in developing interactive learning media. In addition, this activity also encourages creativity, collaboration, and teacher motivation to innovate in PESH learning. Thus, this training provides a real contribution to improving the quality of PESH learning and is worthy of being developed sustainably and scientifically in other regions.

Abstract

Students' physical readiness is a crucial factor in supporting active participation in educational activities and academic activities in general. State Senior High School 12, located on Satangnga Island, Mattiro Baji Village, Tanakeke Islands District, Takalar Regency, faces limited sports facilities and does not yet have a structured physical fitness evaluation system. This community service activity aims to provide assistance in fitness evaluation and motor skill development to improve students' physical readiness. The method used is participatory training and mentoring through initial assessment stages, material delivery, structured practice exercises based on training circuits and motor games, and a final evaluation. The activity participated in the activity amounted to 40 students. The results of the pre-test and post-test analysis showed significant improvements in the components of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle strength and endurance, agility, and balance (p < 0.05). This program not only improves students' physical condition but also strengthens teachers' capacity to carry out fitness evaluations independently. This activity is recommended as an adaptive and sustainable physical fitness training model for schools in the island region.
