Abstract

Energy is the ability to do work. Energy is power that can be used to carry out various activity processes including mechanical energy, heat, etc. Therefore, almost all disputes in this world stem from the struggle for energy sources.  This research also aims to explain the utilization of solar energy as an alternative source of electricity through the photovoltaic process, as well as identify the effectiveness of electrical energy storage in batteries controlled by regulators and power conversion from DC to AC through inverters. The findings indicate that precise planning, skilled labor, and compliance with safety regulations are essential for successful panel installation. Common challenges identified include improper load calculations, inadequate circuit protection, and wiring faults, which can lead to inefficiencies and system failures. Recommendations for enhancing installation practices include the adoption of smart panels, automated monitoring systems, and rigorous safety training for electricians. In conclusion, efficient panel installation requires a combination of technical expertise, regulatory adherence, and modern technology integration. By implementing best practices, panel installations can be optimized for safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability, contributing to a more stable and sustainable electrical infrastructure.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas pemanfaatan energi surya sebagai sumber energi alternatif untuk memenuhi kebutuhan listrik rumah apung nelayan di wilayah Malalayang, Manado, Sulawesi Utara. Kondisi geografis daerah ini memiliki potensi energi surya yang tinggi, dengan rata-rata intensitas radiasi matahari mencapai 5,73 kWh/m²/hari. Selama ini, nelayan mengandalkan generator berbahan bakar fosil yang boros dan tidak ramah lingkungan. Metode penelitian meliputi pengumpulan data iklim dan radiasi matahari, perhitungan kebutuhan energi rumah apung, serta simulasi sistem Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya (PLTS) menggunakan perangkat lunak PVsyst dan RETScreen. Sistem yang dianalisis memiliki kapasitas 4480 Wp (8 panel surya 560 Wp), inverter 4400 W, dan beban harian 1080 W selama 7 jam. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan potensi produksi energi tahunan mencapai ±7,4 MWh dengan nilai Performance Ratio 84,3%, menandakan kinerja sistem yang stabil dan efisien. Proyeksi 10 tahun memperhitungkan degradasi panel sebesar 0,5% per tahun, menghasilkan total produksi energi sekitar 68,42 MWh. Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa PLTS berpotensi menjadi solusi berkelanjutan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan listrik rumah apung nelayan. Selain mengurangi ketergantungan pada bahan bakar fosil, penerapan sistem ini juga dapat menekan biaya operasional, mendukung transisi energi bersih, serta meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat pesisir.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has emphasized the need for digital literacy among vocational students, particularly in technology-intensive sectors. However, learning modules that effectively integrate vocational content with digital literacy skills remain limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a Nutmeg Flower Dryer Monitoring Module in improving students' digital literacy comprehension within a vocational education context. A quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control groups was employed, involving 60 eleventh-grade vocational students in electronics engineering programs. The experimental group (n=30) received instruction using the IoT-based monitoring module, while the control group (n=30) engaged in conventional textbook-based learning. Data were collected using a 40-item digital literacy test and a 20-item student response questionnaire, then analyzed through N-gain calculation and independent samples t-tests. Results revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group's digital literacy, with an overall N-gain of 0.71, categorized as highly effective. The greatest gains were observed in communication literacy, indicating enhanced competencies in interpreting and interacting with real-time digital systems. Students also reported high satisfaction and perceived relevance to vocational tasks. The findings confirm that contextualized, hands-on IoT modules effectively bridge theoretical knowledge and practical digital skills. Future work should explore multi-site implementation, longitudinal retention, and adaptation to other vocational domains to further optimize digital literacy outcomes.

Abstract

Vector-borne diseases remain a critical public health challenge, particularly in tropical port cities where international maritime traffic increases the risk of introducing infected vectors. At the Class 1 Health Quarantine Center of Manado (BKKK Manado), traditional paper-based vector reporting workflows have caused delays, transcription errors, and inconsistent risk assessments, hindering timely and evidence-based decision-making. This study aims to develop and evaluate a web-based vector reporting information system integrated with a C4.5 Decision Tree classifier to automate risk classification and improve operational efficiency. An applied research approach using a research-and-development (R&D) methodology was employed, involving system design, implementation, and empirical evaluation at the Manado seaport. Data were collected from 312 historical vector surveillance records, field observations, and officer interviews. System performance was assessed through classification accuracy, functional testing, usability evaluation (System Usability Scale), and a time-efficiency comparison with paper-based reporting. The resulting system achieved 92.1% classification accuracy, a macro-averaged F1-score of 0.91, a 100% functional test pass rate, and an 80.7% reduction in reporting time, while usability was rated “Excellent” by officers. The study concludes that the web-based system effectively enhances vector surveillance and decision-making. Future research should focus on expanding datasets, integrating with national health platforms, and exploring alternative classifiers to improve scalability and robustness for broader vector-borne disease monitoring.
