Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find a solution to the problem of low learning outcomes in understanding mathematical concepts of addition and subtraction material, of which 80% had not reached the KKTP and the low level of student activeness. The learning method used is Team Games Tournament (TGT) assisted by ethnomathematics marbles game. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) consisting of cycle I and cycle II to assess the application of TGT. Each cycle consists of (1) Planning; (2) Action; (3) Observing; and (4) Reflection. This research was conducted at SD 2 Jati Wetan with the subject grade 1 students totalling 15 students. Data were collected by test, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used descriptive, and comparative. The research results showed that there was an increase in the average and percentage of students completing KKTP, that was 65.3 (40%) in cycle I to 85.56 (86.67%) in cycle II. The level of learning activeness also increased from 48% in cycle I to 80.8% in cycle II. Thus, the TGT model assisted by the ethnomathematics marbles game is proven to increase students' concept understanding and activeness in addition and subtraction materials in grade 1 elementary school.

Abstract

One of the crucial basic knowledge is mathematics, which not only continues to develop but also underlies technological progress and human thinking. Although important, mathematics learning, especially at the elementary school level, is often hampered by the abstract nature of its concepts, especially for students who need a concrete understanding of concepts.This research aims to determine the increase in conceptual understanding of class II students at SDN Jati Wetan 2 through the application of BICOLA (Congklak Bianglala) media in multiplication material. This research is Classroom Action Research. The data collection stage in this classroom action research is two cycles consisting of 3 meetings in each cycle. Each cycle consists of (1) Planning; (2) Implementation; (3) Observation; and (4) Reflection. Data collection techniques through observation, tests and documentation. Data analysis uses qualitative and quantitative descriptive. The results of this research show that there is an increase in students' understanding of the concept of multiplication material. Comparison of the percentage of achievement of completeness, initially only 4 students were able to achieve a score > 75 in the first cycle, and increased to 10 students in the second cycle from 12 students in the class. The average learning test results also increased, from 56.2 in the pretest to 62.9 in the first cycle, and increased to 83.3 in the second cycle. The level of students' understanding of concepts increased from the first cycle by 70.66 to 80.66 in the second cycle. The application of BICOLA media has been proven to increase students' understanding of concepts and activeness in multiplication material in class 2 of SDN Jati Wetan 2.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika dan aktivitas belajar siswa menggunakan model PjBL berbantuan meplastigi. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari 18 siswa kelas III SD 2 Jati Wetan, terdiri dari 11 siswa laki-laki dan 7 siswa perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, tes, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian tindakan kelas ini mencakup analisis kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep matematika meningkat dari 56% (kurang) pada siklus I menjadi 83% (baik) pada siklus II. Keterampilan mengajar guru juga meningkat dari 76% (baik) menjadi 88% (sangat baik). Aktivitas belajar siswa naik dari 72% (baik) menjadi 84% (sangat baik). Selain itu, indikator pemahaman konsep mengaplikasikan ide/konsep secara algoritmik meningkat dari 72% menjadi 96%. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model PjBL berbantuan meplastigi berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika, keterampilan mengajar guru, dan aktivitas belajar siswa di kelas III SD 2 Jati Wetan.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to see how an ethnomathematics approach can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts at SD 2 Jati Wetan. This research is classroom action research carried out in two cycles with a sequence of planning, action, observation and reflection stages. The research subjects were class IV students. Data is collected by observation and tests. The data analysis used is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The results of the research show that the ethnomathematics approach is able to increase students' understanding of mathematical concepts at SD 2 Jati Wetan. The increase in understanding of concepts can be seen from: The results of the research show that understanding of mathematical concepts increased from 53% (poor) in cycle I to 80% (good) in cycle II. Teachers' teaching skills also increased from 75% (good) to 88% (very good). Student learning activity increased from 73% (good) to 86% (very good). From this research, it can be concluded that the ethnomathematics approach is able to improve the ability to understand mathematical concepts in flat shape material in class IV students.
