Abstract

The constraints faced by members of the Anugerah Tribuana group, Mata Air village, Taebenu sub-district, Kupang district are limited knowledge and skills in dragon fruit cultivation techniques (from selecting plant types, selecting seedling materials, nurseries, transplanting seedlings, soil processing, planting, irrigation, maintenance, pest and disease control, and the right time to harvest; including knowledge and skills in environmentally friendly cultivation techniques based on organic fertilizers and botanical pesticides. Increasing dragon fruit productivity in the Anugerah Tribuana farmer group, Mata Air village, Taebenu sub-district, Kupang district through assistance in implementing dragon fruit cultivation techniques. Using lecture and demonstration plot methods by selecting the type of cuttings planted, preparing cutting materials, nurseries, planting, irrigation, fertilization and environmentally friendly pest and pathogen control, as well as determining the time of harvest, harvesting and post-harvest handling. Socialization was carried out to 20 farmer participants. The results of the activity are adequate socialization of knowledge and techniques for dragon fruit cultivation, reflected in the level of attendance of participating farmers and high enthusiasm in the community partnership program; shown by discussing various aspects of dragon fruit cultivation that are appropriate and effective in responding to limitations in dry land, a combination of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) and rice husk charcoal biocar and control of OPT in dry land with the manufacture and application of botanical pesticides. The material is presented and there is two-way productive enthusiastic communication, especially the technical manufacture and application of botanical pesticides and dragon fruit cultivation in farmers and the models and techniques for their use. Socialization of dragon fruit cultivation has a positive impact on increasing knowledge and skills of farmers adequately in the Anugerah Tribuana farmer group in Mata Air Village, Taebenu District, Kupang Regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine aroma quality of rice and nutritional contents of upland rice of Pare Wangi variety under various levels of soil moisture and salinity, and determine correlation between the aroma quality and the nutritional content of rice. The research was started with planting seeds of Pare Wangi variety in the pot experiment. Experiment was conducted using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) that was arranged factorially by three replications. The samples of harvested grain then were taken to the laboratory to be tested for the aroma quality and other qualities of the rice. The aroma quality was determined on the basis of the aroma score of organoleptic-test results and 2-AP content of the rice, while other rice qualities include: percentage of white rice and head rice, rice water content, content of ash, fat, carbohydrate, protein, starch, amylose, and amylopectin. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance, HSD of 5% significantly level, and descriptive. Then, to find out the relationship between aroma quality and nutritional contents were carried out simple correlation analysis. The results showed that the decrease in soil moisture level caused a decrease in the quality of milled grain and the nutritional contents of rice, but did not show a significant decrease in the protein and carbohydrate content of rice. Soil moisture at 75% FC level caused the best 2AP content of rice and aroma score. The increase in salinity with the addition of NaCl salt up to 4 g NaCl kg-1 soil caused a decrease the quality of milled grain, content of ash, fat and protein. Salinity level of 1 and 2 g NaCl kg-1 soil gave the highest 2AP content of rice, but the effect was not significant on the rice aroma score. Both 2AP content and aroma score of rice were not significantly correlated with all nutritional contents of rice analyzed.

Abstract

Sampah masih menjadi salah satu isu utama lingkungan di Kota Kupang. Tata kelola sampah yang belum optimal pada akhirnya menjadi beban lingkungan, baik lingkugan fisik maupun sosial. Fokus penanganan yang dilakukan selama ini lebih banyak pada mobilisasi sampah pada Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA). Terlebih TPA yang digunakan masih menggunakan teknologi open dumping. Pengabdian ini dilakukan di salah satu tempat ibadah di kota Kupang. Tempat ibadah dipilih karena menjadi salah satu potensi penyumbang sampah yang cukup besar, baik sampah organik maupun anorganik. Pengolahan sampah di tingkat sumber (tempat ibadah) akan memberikan manfaat ekonomi dan juga menjadi model pengelolaan sampah yang baik, sehingga dapat menjadi acuan dalam pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga atau komunitas. Pengabdian dilaksanakan dengan metoda partisipatif kolaboratif, melalui pemetaan permasalahan, potensi sumber bahan baku (sampah), perencanaan site plan, pengadaan alat pencacah sampah pelatihan proses pembuatan kompos, pengemasan kompos dan pemasarannya. Hasil kegiatan menunjukan bahwa kegiatan PKM ini telah mampu meningkatkan efisiensi pengolahan dan upaya penganganan sampah. Unit pengolahan yang dibangun sudah mampu berproduksi secara berkelanjutan. Teknologi mesin pencacah mampu meningkatkan efisiensi kerja, yaitu hasil yang lebih halus dan waktu yang lebih efisien. Produktivitas pencacahan sampah basah mencapai 60 kg/jam dan sampah kering 34,8 kg/jam. Hasil kegiatan PKM ini juga mampu menyelesaikan pemasalahan yang dihadapi mitra, menghasilkan insentif ekonomi, dan menjadi media promosi penaganan sampah di tingkat sumber. Pelaksanaan kegiatan secara sharing cost (65% mitra 35% PKM) memotivasi mitra untuk menjalankan usaha secara berkelanjutan karena telah turut berinvestasi.
