Abstract

This research aims to design and develop a small-scale micro-hydro power plant that is directly connected to the electrical grid (on-grid system). The system is specifically engineered to respond quickly to changes in power demand, thereby helping to maintain the stability of the electrical network. The micro-hydro power plant utilizes water resources by harnessing river flow to generate clean and renewable electrical energy. The study focuses on evaluating the technical design, system performance, and response time to power fluctuations. Results from the experimental testing indicate that an increase in the rotational speed of the turbine shaft leads to a corresponding increase in electrical output. Furthermore, the testing location plays a significant role in the system’s efficiency. The first location demonstrated superior turbine performance, producing an output of 27.52 Watts, while the second location yielded a significantly lower power output of only 5.68 Watts. This research offers an efficient and sustainable solution for small-scale electricity generation.

Abstract

ABSTRAK                                                                            Pendidikan tinggi di Kabupaten Konawe, khususnya di SMA Negeri 1 Sampara, menghadapi tantangan rendahnya angka partisipasi siswa dalam melanjutkan pendidikan ke perguruan tinggi. Salah satu penyebab utama adalah kurangnya pemahaman tentang pendidikan vokasi dan minimnya pengetahuan mengenai Politeknik Tridaya Virtu Morosi yang terletak di dekat mereka. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan minat siswa kelas 12 SMA Negeri 1 Sampara terhadap pendidikan vokasi, dengan memperkenalkan Politeknik Tridaya Virtu Morosi sebagai pilihan pendidikan tinggi yang berkualitas dan relevan dengan kebutuhan industri. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 130 siswa kelas 12, serta 15 guru dan staf sekolah sebagai mitra dalam kegiatan pengabdian. Tahapan kegiatan dimulai dengan persiapan yang mencakup koordinasi dan penyusunan materi. Selanjutnya, pada tahap pelaksanaan, dilakukan sosialisasi berupa presentasi, diskusi terbuka, dan tanya jawab. Tahap terakhir adalah monitoring dan evaluasi untuk mengukur perubahan pengetahuan dan minat siswa. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman siswa tentang pendidikan vokasi, serta 35% siswa menyatakan minat untuk melanjutkan pendidikan ke Politeknik Tridaya Virtu Morosi. Diharapkan, sosialisasi ini dapat mendorong lebih banyak siswa memilih pendidikan vokasi dan meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia di daerah tersebut. Kata kunci: Pendidikan Tinggi; Pendidikan Vokasi; SMA Negeri 1 Sampara; Politeknik Tridaya Virtu Morosi; Kabupaten Konawe. ABSTRACTHigher education in Konawe Regency, particularly at SMA Negeri 1 Sampara, faces the challenge of low student participation in continuing education to higher institutions. One of the main reasons is the lack of understanding about vocational education and limited knowledge about Politeknik Tridaya Virtu Morosi, located nearby. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and interest of 12th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Sampara in vocational education, by introducing Politeknik Tridaya Virtu Morosi as a quality higher education option relevant to industry needs. The activity involved 130 12th-grade students, as well as 15 teachers and staff as partners. The activity consisted of several stages, starting with preparation, including coordination and material development. The next stage was the implementation, which included socialization, presentations, open discussions, and Q&A sessions. The final stage was monitoring and evaluation to assess the impact of the activity. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of vocational education, with 35% expressing interest in continuing education at Politeknik Tridaya Virtu Morosi. It is expected that this socialization will encourage more students to choose vocational education, which will, in turn, improve human resource quality in the region. Keywords: Higher Education; Vocational Education; SMA Negeri 1 Sampara; Politeknik Tridaya Virtu Morosi; Konawe Regency.
