Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed the lives of early childhood, where the use of gadgets, the internet, and social media has become an integral part of daily activities, influencing how children learn, interact, and develop their character. This condition highlights the crucial role of parents in applying parenting practices that are not only adaptive to technological advancements but also capable of instilling moral, social, and emotional values in a balanced manner. Without proper guidance, technology use may lead to various developmental issues, such as decreased empathy, increased individualistic tendencies, and consumptive behavior among children. This study aims to describe parental parenting practices in assisting early childhood in the digital era, analyze their contribution to children's character development, and identify the challenges and strategies employed by parents in responding to these dynamics. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving parents with children aged 4-6 years as research subjects. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The expected outcomes of this study include publication in a nationally accredited journal, the development of a conceptual model of effective parenting in the digital era, and practical recommendations for parents and early childhood educators in fostering children's character through a balanced approach between fundamental values and the demands of technological development.

Abstract

The literacy and numeracy skills of early childhood education (PAUD) teachers are still not optimal in supporting effective and meaningful learning processes. This condition is influenced by limited understanding and lack of training in integrating literacy and numeracy into daily teaching practices. This community service program aims to enhance the literacy and numeracy competencies of PAUD educators in classroom practices. The methods employed include training, mentoring, and evaluation using a participatory approach through stages of needs analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The program involved PAUD educators as the primary participants. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding and skills in designing and implementing literacy and numeracy learning. In addition, participants demonstrated high enthusiasm and were able to apply the outcomes of the training in their teaching activities. Therefore, this program has a positive impact on improving the quality of learning in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Emotional Card media on the emotional development of children aged 5-6 years at RA Nurul Yaqin. The research was motivated by the need for concrete and attractive learning media that can help young children recognize, understand, and express emotions appropriately. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants consisted of 17 children in group B, and the data were collected through observation and documentation using validated emotional development instruments. The treatment was conducted through learning activities using Emotional Card media that presented various emotional expressions and social situations. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, validity and reliability testing, normality testing, linearity testing, simple linear regression, coefficient of determination, and F-test. The results showed that Emotional Card media had a positive effect on children's emotional development. The regression analysis indicated a significance value of 0.002, which was lower than 0.05. The model summary showed an R Square value of 0.512 and an Adjusted R Square value of 0.454, indicating that the media contributed meaningfully to emotional development. These findings suggest that Emotional Card media can be used as an effective visual learning medium to support emotional recognition, emotional expression, self-regulation, and prosocial responses in early childhood learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the phonics method in introducing English literacy to Group B students at TK Bilingual Islamic School Rumah Ilmu, Bekasi Regency. The study was motivated by the importance of early literacy as a foundation for children’s reading, writing, vocabulary development, and language readiness. This research used a qualitative case study approach. The data were collected through classroom observation, interviews with teachers and school management, and documentation of learning activities. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the phonics method was implemented through the introduction of letter names, letter symbols, and letter sounds in a gradual, playful, and multisensory manner. Children in the new Group B class were introduced to beginning sounds, while children in the old Group B class continued to ending sounds and simple word construction. Teachers used picture cards, worksheets, sandpaper letters, games, songs, and audiovisual media to support children’s understanding of the relationship between letters and sounds. The implementation encouraged children to recognize alphabets, connect sounds with symbols, pronounce simple English words, and read simple sentences according to their developmental stage. These findings indicate that phonics can support early English literacy when implemented through developmentally appropriate, enjoyable, and interactive learning.
