Abstract

MSMEs or tenants fostered by PLUT face various challenges in terms of marketing and product differentiation; unattractive and uninformative packaging often becomes an obstacle in penetrating the modern market, so MSME products are less able to compete at the local and national levels. This community service activity aims to collaborate in designing and implementing packaging innovation and product development that can increase the competitiveness of PLUT-fostered tenants. This program focuses on increasing the capacity of technology and innovation skills for PLUT-KUMKM partners in West Sumatra. This community service is carried out through structured stages, including socialization and coordination activities, which are the foundation for the program's success, followed by workshops on packaging innovation and product development and intensive assistance for selected tenants. The results of this activity are that PLUT-KUMKM tenants gain knowledge and understanding of product development and packaging innovation and receive intensive assistance to improve product packaging. This program is expected to significantly impact the competitiveness of PLUT-KUMKM tenants in West Sumatra so that they can contribute more to the national economy. Abstract

Coffee is a plantation crop that has high economic value among other plantation crops and plays an important role as a source of foreign exchange for the country. The decline and low productivity of coffee plants in coffee production centers in Solok City, West Sumatra is one of the causes of plant parasitic nematode attacks. This nematode attack causes disrupted plant growth and reduces the value of crop production both in quantity and quality. This study aims to determine the diversity and population density of parasitic nematodes in the rhizosphere of coffee plants in Solok City, West Sumatra. This research was conducted from March to July 2023 at the Laboratory of Biological Control, Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University. Soil samples were taken in two central areas of coffee plantations in Solok City, West Sumatra. In the rhizosphere of coffee plants in Solok City, four genera of parasitic nematodes were found, namely: the genera Pratylenchus, Helicotylenchus, Meloidogyne, Rotylenchulus, Paratylenchus, and Tylenchorhynchus. The highest frequency of presence of nematodes, namely the genus Rotylenchulus, was 50.99 belonging to the medium category in Jorong Kayu Aro, and 44.80 in the rare category in Jorong Kayu Jao.

Abstract

Abstract: Bukit Sileh is known as an area that produces competitive high-quality vegetables in the regional market and potential to be an attractive natural tourist destination. However, there are several obstacles faced by the community, such as climate change (causing crop failure), limited quality inputs, pest and disease attacks, high operational costs and low selling prices. Therefore, efforts are needed to diversify and increase community income through grape cultivation. Grape production continues to increase but has not been able to meet domestic demand, thus providing promising business opportunities. This activity aims to improve the technical and managerial capacity of farmers and support the application of appropriate and sustainable technology. The implementation was carried out participatively in three main stages: surveying and mapping potential; training and technical assistance; and monitoring and evaluation. The results showed an increase in farmers' knowledge and skills in grape cultivation by applying greenhouse technology and drip irrigation systems with adaptive varieties. In addition, there was also an increase in understanding of marketing aspects through fruit quality testing. This activity successfully built a more professional and sustainable foundation for production and marketing to realize an independent village through the development of community-based agrotourism. Maka dibutuhkan upaya diversifikasi peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat melalui budidaya tanaman anggur.

Abstract

Dependency on chemical pesticides is a major hurdle in achieving competitive and safe organic horticultural cultivation. This community service program aims to implement nanoemulsion-based botanical insecticide innovation as an eco-friendly pest control solution for the Kayu Gadang Women Farmer Group (KWT) in Sawahlunto. The methodology employed a participatory approach involving technology transfer, digital financial management mentoring, and product branding strategies. Evaluation results demonstrated significant impacts across three key pillars: an 80% reduction in chemical pesticide use per planting season, improved quality of residue-free horticultural products, and a 25% increase in business turnover. Additionally, marketing effectiveness rose, with sales volume growing by 50%. This program successfully transformed KWT Kayu Gadang into a self-sufficient and competitive horticultural business unit that supports green technology-based sustainable agriculture.
