Abstract

Abstract The objective of the research is to find out communication strategies used by the English teachers in Special need student classroom. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research and the data were collected by using observation, interview, and documentation (video recording). The result revealed that communication strategies used by the English teacher were circumlocution, approximation, use of nonlinguistic means (mime or gesture), literal translation, code switching, appeal for help, stalling or time-gaining strategies. The result of the interview showed that the communication strategies helped the students understood the meaning of words and instruction, made the students easier to understand the material, helped students to understand what the teacher said, helped to explain the material in teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Teaching in the classroom by using English has raised the problem. The students faced the problem to understand the teacher’s talk because of lack of vocabulary. In order to solve this, the teachers are able to communicate to the students actively by using their hands, imitating sound, inventing new words, or describing what they mean. These ways of communicating are called communication strategies (CSs). EFL teachers are not always aware of the importance of teaching communication strategies to their students or, if they are aware, they do not explicitly train their students to use them. They do not use these strategies themselves to serve as a model to their students. This study investigated the communication strategies used by the teacher in ESP Class and the potential factors that influence the communication strategies they use in the class. The data came from three sources: (1) Transcription from audio recording of the teacher in teaching and learning process. (2) Interview with the teacher. (3) And observation note taking during the process of teaching. The results indicated that the most frequently communication strategy used by the teacher in class is code-switching, and learning activity, students’ comprehending and teacher’ habit are factors that influenced the communication strategies used.

Abstract

Meaningful and fluent communication is the ultimate goal of English as foreign language (EFL) learners in teaching and learning English, but the language learners faced communication problems when they attempt to use the target language. Introducing and teaching the learners with learning strategies, specifically communication strategy is a plausible solution to the learners’ communication problem. The teaching of communication strategies commonly known as strategies based instruction. This study investigated the implementation of strategies based instruction to improve students speaking ability of UPB Class at STAI Darul Ulum Kandangan. The strategies based instruction was implemented in explicitly and implicitly way and it embedded into the teaching and learning material. The result showed that the strategies based instruction which was implemented in the classroom to embed the learners’ awareness to use the communication strategies facilitated the learners to be more responsible in using the target language. It could be seen from students’ use of some communication strategies to solve their speaking problems in oral performance. This strategy also helped the learners to reduce the use of mother tongue and make their speaking more comprehensive.

Abstract

This research is to determine the teaching abilities of female students in the implementation of the 'amaliyah tadris program at Darul Amien TMI Islamic Boarding School. In detail, the ability to carry out learning according to process standards includes initial activities, core activities, and closing activities. This research is a field research. The approach used is a qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative methods. This research founds that female students were able to open lessons by attracting students' attention, giving apperceptions, giving pretests and conveying learning objectives. Santriwati was able to close the lesson by reviewing the core material and giving a post test. Santriwati is able to apply skills in explaining, skills in asking questions, skills in giving reinforcement, and skills in carrying out variations during the learning process, although not all aspects of these components are applied.

Abstract

This research aims to improve student learning outcomes in the History of Islamic Culture subject by using the Quick on The Draw cooperative learning model in class VII A MTs Assunniyyah Tambarangan. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of 2 cycles which each cycle consists of four stages, namely: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. This Classroom Action Research (PTK) used data collection instruments in the form of observation sheets, test questions and documentation. The results of this research showed that the learning outcomes of students in the History of Islamic Culture subject by applying the Quick on The Draw cooperative learning model have increased, as seen from the percentage of classical learning result before implementation is 44% with an average score of 63, after using Quick on The Draw cooperative learning model, classical learning result in cycle I increased to 68% with an average value of 73 and continued to cycle II, experiencing another increase reaching 92% with an average value of 80.6. In this way, the quick on the draw cooperative learning model can improve the learning outcomes of students in the Islamic Cultural History subject.

Abstract

One of the factors that determines the success of the learning process is the teacher. Competency is a set of knowledge, skill, behavior that must be possessed, internalized and mastered by a teacher in carrying out professional duties. This research aims to determine efforts to improve learning outcomes of moral beliefs using the example non example model for class VIII students at MTs SA Miftahul Ulum. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was carried out collaboratively between teachers and observers. This research includes four stages, namely, planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The types of instruments used to produce or collect data are student learning outcomes tests, teacher and student observation guided sheets. The result of the research of the example non example model increased student learning outcomes. In cycle one obtained 71.53, in cycle two obtained 80.76, as well as teacher activity in carrying out learning. In this way, the example non example learning model can improve student learning outcomes in the subject of akidah akhlak.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the strategies of Islamic Religious Education teachers in learning for deaf students at the SLB Negeri Kandangan. This research is field research, with a qualitative descriptive. The subjects in this research were three Islamic religious education teachers who taught at the SDLB, SMPLB and SMALB levels. The object of this research is the strategy of Islamic Religious Education teachers in learning for deaf students at SLB Negeri Kandangan. The results of this research are the strategies of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in learning for deaf students at SLB Negeri Kandangan, namely deductive, expository, classical, behavior modification and group strategies.
