Abstract

This study aims to investigate the strategies used by school principals in improving the quality of learning in the State Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTsN) of North Lampung Regency through developing teachers' professional competencies. The quality of education is strongly influenced by teachers' qualifications, competence, and dedication in carrying out their professional duties. Principals have a very important role as leaders who can influence, motivate and guide teachers to achieve the desired educational goals. This study used a qualitative approach with a focus on describing and analyzing the phenomenon under study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with principals and teachers, observations, and document studies. The research was conducted in three MTsN in North Lampung District. The results showed that there are various strategies implemented by principals to improve teachers' professional competence. These strategies can be divided into formal and informal activities. Formal activities include participation in seminars, workshops, training, and coaching organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, MGMP, madrasah external mentors, and madrasah supervisors. In addition, non-formal activities such as experience-sharing sessions are also organized to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between teachers. The study also identified several obstacles faced by principals in developing teachers' professionalism, such as limited mastery of technology, limited teacher creativity, and the lack of scientific research conducted by teachers. Overall, the role of school principals is very significant in improving the quality of learning at MTsN in North Lampung Regency. Through appropriate strategies, both through formal and informal activities, as well as overcoming the obstacles faced, principals can help improve teachers' professional competence and overall learning quality.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Gender bias is one of the social factors that influences the construction of understanding and sexual behavior within society. From the perspective of the Qur’an, human equality and dignity are affirmed without distinction based on sex, as stated in Surah Al-Hujurāt [49]:13 and An-Nisā’ [4]:1. This study aims to analyze the impact of gender bias on sexual behavior by referring to the ethical, moral, and gender-relational principles taught in the Qur’an. The method employed is library research through thematic analysis of Qur’anic verses alongside contemporary literature on gender and sexual behavior. The findings indicate that gender bias can perpetuate role inequality, normalize sexual domination, and foster deviant behaviors that contradict Qur’anic values such as justice, responsibility, and the sanctity of sexual relations. The Qur’an provides a normative framework emphasizing reciprocity (mubādalah), respect for human dignity, and self-restraint as the foundation for ethical and healthy sexual behavior. Therefore, eliminating gender bias constitutes an essential effort in cultivating civilized sexual conduct in accordance with Qur’anic teachings. ABSTRAK Bias gender merupakan salah satu faktor sosial yang dapat memengaruhi konstruksi pemahaman dan perilaku seksual dalam masyarakat. Dalam perspektif Al-Qur’an, kesetaraan dan kemuliaan manusia ditegaskan tanpa pembedaan berdasarkan jenis kelamin, sebagaimana termaktub dalam QS. Al-Hujurāt [49]: 13 dan QS. An-Nisā’ [4]: 1. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak bias gender terhadap perilaku seksual dengan merujuk pada prinsip-prinsip etika, moral, dan relasi gender yang diajarkan Al-Qur’an. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan melalui analisis tematik ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an serta kajian literatur kontemporer tentang gender dan.perilaku seksual. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa bias gender dapat melanggengkan ketidaksetaraan peran, menormalisasi dominasi seksual, dan memicu perilaku menyimpang yang tidak sejalan dengan nilai-nilai Qur’ani seperti keadilan, tanggung jawab, dan kesucian hubungan seksual. Al-Qur’an memberikan kerangka normatif yang menekankan kesalingan (mubādalah), penghormatan martabat manusia, serta pengendalian diri sebagai dasar perilaku seksual yang sehat dan beretika. Dengan demikian, penghapusan bias gender menjadi bagian penting dari upaya membangun perilaku seksual yang berkeadaban sesuai dengan ajaran Al-Qur’an.
