Abstract

Higher order thinking abilities or Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is a crucial aspect in mathematics education, especially in producing graduates who are able to think critically, creatively and reflectively. However, many students still experience difficulties in solving HOTS-based questions due to a lack of systematic thinking strategies. Metacognitive strategies is an approach that can help students plan, monitor and evaluate their thinking processes effectively. Therefore, this research aims to explore the application of metacognitive strategies in solving HOTS questions among students of the Tadris Mathematics Study Program and identify the factors that influence their success. This research uses system literature review (SLR) method by reviewing various academic sources related to metacognitive strategies in learning mathematics. The research results show that metacognitive strategies play an important role in increasing the effectiveness of HOTS learning, where students who have good metacognitive awareness are better able to develop flexible and systematic problem solving strategies. Factors that influence the success of this strategy include students' cognitive readiness, the role of lecturers in learning, a conducive learning environment, and curriculum policies that support the development of higher order thinking skills. The conclusion of this research confirms that metacognitive strategies must be integrated optimally in mathematics learning to improve students' HOTS skills. The main recommendation from this research is the need for training for lecturers and students regarding metacognitive strategies as well as improving the curriculum so that it is more oriented towards developing critical and reflective thinking skills.

Abstract

This research discusses the legal implications of a husband's marriage during his wife's iddah period, which is debated in Islamic law and positive law in Indonesia. In Islam, the iddah period aims to ensure the cleanliness of a woman's womb and provide an opportunity for reconciliation for divorced couples. However, classical Islamic law does not explicitly prohibit a husband from remarrying while his ex-wife is still in the iddah period. On the other hand, Circular Letter of the Director General of Islamic Guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs No. P-005/DJ.III/HK.007/10/2021 stipulates that marriages performed during the iddah period cannot be registered, as an effort to prevent covert polygamy. This research uses a normative juridical method with a legislative and conceptual approach, analyzing regulations related to marriage during the iddah period from the perspective of the Qur'an, Hadith, Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), and Marriage Law No.1 of 1974. The results show a gap between classical Islamic law and state regulations, where positive law sets administrative restrictions on the husband's marriage during the wife's iddah period to provide legal certainty. This policy has consequences for the legal status of the marriage and the rights of the couple, including the status of the children in the marriage. This research provides insight into the differences between Islamic law and state regulations in the context of iddah marriages and their juridical implications, which are important for academics, legal practitioners and the public.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategies of madrasah principals in strengthening the four dimensions of transformational leadership—idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration—within the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) at MTsN 7 Tulungagung. This study employs a qualitative approach with a post-positivistic paradigm. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Analysis techniques using data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through triangulation and peer debriefing. The findings indicate that the principal integrates the madrasah's vision and mission into institutional programs, motivates educators through moral support and rewards, enhances teacher competence through training, provides adequate learning facilities, and addresses the individual needs of staff. These strategies demonstrate the central role of the principal in fostering a collaborative and value-based educational environment. The originality of this study lies in its comprehensive analysis of transformational leadership practices within the SBM framework in an Islamic junior high school context, highlighting the integration of IMTAQ and IPTEK values. However, this study is limited to a single case study, which may affect the generalizability of the findings.

Abstract

Prosocial behavior voluntary actions intended to benefit others plays a vital role in adolescents’ social skills, emotional well-being, and constructive interpersonal relationships. Adolescents with high prosociality tend to exhibit lower negative emotions and stronger social development. However, limited research has examined this phenomenon among Muslim university students. Guided by Domain Theory, this study investigates the influence of self-control, subjective well-being, happiness, and life satisfaction on prosocial behavior in Indonesian Muslim students. A cross-sectional design with convenience sampling recruited 300 Muslim university students (84 males, 28%; 216 females, 72%) aged 17–24 years (M = 19, SD = 1.23). Participants completed the Prosocial Tendencies Measure (PTM), Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS), BBC Subjective Well-being Scale (BBC-SWB), Orientation to Happiness Scale (OTH), and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), all adapted to the Indonesian context with acceptable reliability. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results showed that subjective well-being (β = -0.169, p = 0.031) and happiness (β = 0.498, p = 0.000) significantly influenced prosocial behavior. Self-control (β = -0.058, p = 0.333) and life satisfaction (β = 0.119, p = 0.081) showed no significant effect. Indonesian Muslim students who reported higher levels of subjective well-being and happiness were more likely to engage in prosocial behavior. However, the research model hasn’t optimally explained the relationship between variables, as there are still other factors that can influence them.
