Abstract

The development of digital technology has drastically influenced human interaction, particularly between different generations such as Generation Z (Gen Z) and Baby Boomers. This study aims to analyze the differences in communication styles between Generation Z and Baby Boomers in social and professional contexts. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research analyzes various literature, articles, and relevant documents to understand the communication characteristics of each generation. The results indicate that the differences in communication styles are influenced by factors such as technology, social values, and the ways each generation interacts with the world around them. Generation Z, raised in the digital era, tends to use technology for quick and efficient communication, relying on instant messaging applications, social media, and video calls. In contrast, Baby Boomers, who grew up before the era of digitalization, prefer more formal and structured communication, primarily utilizing telephones and emails. To improve intergenerational interactions, this study recommends technology training for Baby Boomers, the adoption of flexible communication approaches, and the encouragement of open dialogue between generations. By integrating new communication technologies with traditional methods, organizations can create an inclusive, harmonious, and productive environment where intergenerational communication can thrive.
