Abstract

The science of grammar is an important branch of Arabic grammar that functions as the main tool for understanding the structure and meaning of sentences in the Qur'an. One of the interesting syntactic elements to study is the letter Wawu (و), which has various functions depending on the context of its use. This study aims to specifically examine the various functions of the letter Wawu in QS. Al-Hasyr verse 9. This verse was chosen because it contains several forms of Wawu usage with different functions, such as the letter athof (connector), the letter hal (condition clarifier), and others. By using a syntactic analysis approach based on the rules of grammar, this study found that the letter Wawu in the verse not only functions as a connector between phrases or clauses, but also has an important role in forming meaning and clarifying the context of the sentence. The results of this study are expected to enrich the understanding of the function of letters in Arabic and contribute to the study of linguistics and interpretation of the Qur'an.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the symbolism and meaning of love in the poem Mu’allaqat by Imru’ al-Qais, one of the greatest poets in pre-Islamic Arabic literature. Using a qualitative approach with a library research method, this research analyzes the original Arabic text and relevant scholarly sources to uncover how love is represented through diction and poetic symbols. The findings indicate that love in Imru’ al-Qais’ poetry is portrayed as an all-encompassing emotional experience, filled with longing, sacrifice, and existential reflection. Natural symbols such as winds, traces of the camp, tears, and journeys of separation reinforce the image of love as an integral part of the human life cycle. The chosen diction such as "دمع العين" (tears of the eye) and "خدر عنيزة" (the beloved’s tent) demonstrates both the depth of feeling and the poet’s courage in expressing the fragility and resilience inherent in love. Love in this poetry is not idealized, but rather presented as a profoundly human experience, rich with bittersweet nuances that remain relevant to readers across time. This study hopes to enrich the understanding of classical Arabic literature and offer new perspectives on the role of love symbolism in world literary traditions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form and meaning of non-nisbah taṣghīr from the perspective of Sharaf science, and to see how this form is used in the Qur'an and Arabic literature. Taṣghīr is a form of word derivation in Arabic that functions to convey various meanings such as belittling, affection, insults, and admiration. The focus of the study is directed at non-nisbah forms, namely taṣghīr forms that do not refer to affiliation or nisbah, but rather emphasize changes in morphological structure and semantic and pragmatic meaning. The main data comes from the Qur'an version of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, accompanied by references from classical Sharaf books and modern Arabic linguistic literature. The results of the analysis show that non-nisbah taṣghīr has a very complex linguistic and social function and remains relevant in contemporary Arabic language studies. This form is not only a morphological transformation, but also a communication strategy that reflects emotional and cultural relationships in Arab society.
