Abstract

This paper discusses the motions response of moored rounded-shape FPSO model due to the wave effect. The research analyzed the possibility of wave motion response of rounded-shape FPSO model affected by different mooring systems. Experiment of a scale FPSO model of 1:112 was conducted in basin tank at the National Research Institute of Fisheries Engineering, Japan. In the experiment, the FPSO model was firstly tested by attaching model scale of Catenary mooring lines to rounded-shape FPSO model. Then the experiment was repeated by attaching model scale of Taut mooring lines to the rounded-shape FPSO model. Comparing results obtained using Taut and Catenary mooring lines in regular wave were presented. This research concluded that the mooring systems would not give significant effect to wave frequency motion response of the rounded-shape FPSO.

Abstract

Mooring line have several types of material which is chain, wire and synthetic fiber rope. Mostly, in oil and gas industry is use chain and wire rope as a mooring line for shallow water platform. When exploitation of oil and gas become deep, synthetic fiber is use as an alternative for mooring line. This paper focused on types of material and experimental by previous researcher for deep water mooring line. Beside that, the tensile test have been done for preliminary design stage. The test is to identify the material properties of mooring line. At this stage only focus on the steel wire rope with length 200mm and nominal diameter 2mm, 2.5mm, 6mm and 8mm. Finally, the conclusion and important summaries were presented according to the data collected.

Abstract

Podded propulsion system has been utilized to make revolutionary in the integrated ship propulsion and steering system due to diesel-electric and combining pod and rudder in the compact body. This paper would review utilization of podded propulsion system on the Double Acting Tanker (DAT) ship in ice mode. The DAT ship can be operated running ahead mode and astern mode in open water and ice conditions.
