Abstract

This research paper explores the significant contributions made by Kashmiri individuals, government initiatives, and non-governmental organizations in promoting and empowering girls’ education in Jammu and Kashmir. From pioneering figures like Begum Zaffar Ali to impactful schemes such as UMEED, KGBV, and Tejaswini, the study highlights a transformative journey toward gender-inclusive education. It investigates the socio-economic and cultural challenges that hinder female literacy and examines ongoing efforts to overcome these barriers. Through data analysis, program evaluations, and historical insights, the paper aims to present a comprehensive overview of the progress made and the road ahead for ensuring equitable educational opportunities for girls in the region.

Abstract

This paper examines the evolving role of Kashmiri women in the political arena of Jammu and Kashmir, a region historically characterized by conflict and patriarchal norms. Despite socio-political constraints and cultural barriers, women in the region have increasingly begun to assert their presence in electoral politics, grassroots activism, and policymaking. Tracing the journey from early pioneers like Begum Zaffar Ali to contemporary leaders such as Sakina Itoo and Shehla Rashid, the paper highlights the growing visibility and influence of women in shaping the political narrative. It also investigates the current trends, challenges, and prospects for women’s political empowerment, arguing that inclusive governance and gender-sensitive reforms are crucial for sustained democratic development in the region.

Abstract

Gender equality in the workplace remains a central issue in the global discourse on human rights and inclusive development. Despite progress in education and employment participation, significant gender disparities persist in wages, leadership representation, occupational roles, and access to opportunities. This research paper explores the major challenges to achieving gender equality at work, such as the gender pay gap, occupational segregation, underrepresentation in leadership positions, and the unequal burden of unpaid care work. It also highlights notable progress made in the 21st century, including legal reforms, corporate diversity programs, and supportive policies for working women. The paper concludes by offering strategic recommendations to accelerate progress, emphasizing the importance of systemic change, inclusive practices, and cultural transformation in achieving gender-equal workplaces.
