Abstract

The integration of Shariah law with modern capitalism has been a subject of significant debate, particularly in the context of Islamic banking. In Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, Islamic banking has grown rapidly, offering a unique case study to explore this compatibility. This study examines the alignment of Shariah principles with the practices of modern capitalism in Indonesia’s Islamic banking sector, focusing on issues such as profit-sharing, risk management, and ethical investment. The research aims to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating Shariah law into a capitalist financial system and propose strategies for enhancing this compatibility. Using a mixed-methods approach, this study combines quantitative analysis of financial performance data with qualitative interviews with Islamic banking practitioners, Shariah scholars, and regulators. Data were analyzed to assess the adherence of Islamic banks to Shariah principles, their financial performance, and their role in promoting ethical finance. The findings reveal that while Islamic banks in Indonesia generally comply with Shariah principles, challenges such as profit-driven practices and limited product innovation hinder their full alignment with Islamic ethics. The study concludes that enhancing the compatibility of Shariah law and modern capitalism requires a balanced approach that prioritizes ethical finance while maintaining competitiveness.

Abstract

The background of this research is the increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters and humanitarian crises that require rapid and effective handling. Geospatial techniques have emerged as an important tool in disaster management, offering solutions for real-time mapping, monitoring, and analysis of emergency situations. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the role and effectiveness of geospatial techniques in handling natural disasters and humanitarian crises, and to identify areas that need improvement. The research method used involves analysis of current literature and case studies of various natural disaster incidents and humanitarian crises around the world. Data is collected from reliable sources such as scientific journals, government reports, and non-governmental organizations. This approach allows researchers to evaluate the practical application of geospatial techniques and identify key factors that influence their success. The results of the study show that geospatial techniques play a vital role in various stages of disaster management, from mitigation, preparedness, response, to recovery. Risk mapping, environmental change monitoring, and spatial analysis have been shown to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of emergency response operations. However, the study also identified challenges such as limited data access, the need for specialized training, and adequate technological infrastructure. The study’s conclusion confirms that geospatial techniques are a crucial component in managing natural disasters and humanitarian crises. Proper implementation can save lives and significantly reduce negative impacts. Therefore, investment in geospatial technologies, human resource training, and infrastructure development should be a priority to improve emergency response capacity in the future.

Abstract

Agroforestry has emerged as a vital strategy for promoting sustainable land use, integrating agricultural practices with tree cultivation. This approach addresses critical issues such as land degradation, biodiversity loss, and climate change, making it essential for enhancing ecosystem services and food security. The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the role of agroforestry in sustainable land use practices. This study aims to identify the benefits of agroforestry systems and their potential to enhance environmental, economic, and social outcomes in various contexts. A systematic literature review was conducted, analyzing peer-reviewed articles, reports, and case studies related to agroforestry practices worldwide. Key themes, including ecological benefits, economic viability, and social implications, were identified and synthesized to provide a comprehensive understanding of agroforestry's contributions to sustainable land use. The findings indicate that agroforestry systems significantly improve soil health, enhance biodiversity, and increase carbon sequestration. Economic assessments reveal that agroforestry can provide stable incomes for farmers while promoting food security. Additionally, community engagement in agroforestry practices has been shown to strengthen social resilience and empower local populations. This research concludes that agroforestry plays a critical role in promoting sustainable land use by enhancing ecological health and supporting local economies. To maximize its benefits, policies should encourage the adoption of agroforestry practices and support research on innovative approaches that integrate trees into farming systems effectively.

Abstract

The development of entrepreneurial character in high school students is essential in preparing them for future challenges in an increasingly dynamic world. Project-Based Learning (PBL) has emerged as an effective pedagogical strategy to foster various skills, including problem-solving, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking. However, its application specifically to build entrepreneurial character has not been sufficiently explored in the context of high school education. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning in enhancing entrepreneurial characteristics such as creativity, risk-taking, leadership, and innovation in high school students. A mixed-method research design was employed, involving both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with students and teachers. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ entrepreneurial skills, particularly in their ability to think critically, take initiative, and collaborate effectively in a team setting. Students also demonstrated greater confidence in pursuing entrepreneurial ventures after participating in PBL activities. The findings suggest that integrating PBL into the curriculum can significantly contribute to the development of entrepreneurial character in high school students, which is essential for fostering future entrepreneurs. This research provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers in rethinking educational practices to better equip students for the challenges of the 21st century.
