Abstract

Setelah dilakukan terapi bermain lego selama 2 kali dalam 2 hari anak mengalami perubahan tingkat kecemasan An. A dari skor 10 menjadi 1 dan An. R mengalai penurunan dari skor 8 menjadi 1. Terapi bermian lego dapat menurunkan tingkat kecemasan anak usia prasekolah saat hospitalisasi di RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta.

Abstract

Background: Hyperthermia is a condition that often occurs in preschool children due to infection or inflammation. If not treated immediately, hyperthermia can cause complications such as dehydration and febrile seizures. One safe and effective non-pharmacological method is warm water compresses, which help lower body temperature by increasing heat evaporation and stimulating vasodilation, thereby improving blood circulation. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of warm water compresses in lowering body temperature in preschool children with hyperthermia in the Cempaka High Care Unit of Dr. Moewardi Hospital, Surakarta. Method: This study used a descriptive case study method on two children with hyperthermia. Body temperature was measured before and after giving warm water compresses for 15-20 minutes every 4 hours. Results: Child Patient S's body temperature decreased from 39.0°C to 36.4°C and Child Patient M's from 38.2°C to 36.2°C within 24-48 hours after the intervention. Conclusion: Warm water compresses have been proven effective, safe, and simple as a non-pharmacological method in lowering the body temperature of preschool children.

Abstract

Background: Pneumonia is a lower respiratory tract infection that can be fatal in children, caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Symptoms include fever, cough, and dyspnea. One non-pharmacological therapy to address ineffective breathing patterns is Pursed Lips Breathing (PLB), which can improve alveolar expansion in each lung lobe, normalize respiratory rates, and promote relaxation in children with pneumonia. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of PLB on respiratory frequency in childrens with pneumonia at Cempaka High Care Unit, Dr. Moewardi Regional Hospital, Surakarta. Methods: A descriptive case study approach was used, involving two respondents diagnosed with pneumonia. Respiratory rate (RR) was measured before and after PLB intervention, administered twice daily (morning and evening) for three days. Results: Post-intervention, Respondent R’s RR decreased from 44 to 32 breaths/minute, while Respondent S’s RR improved from 32 to 20 breaths/minute. Conclusion: PLB therapy demonstrated changes in respiratory frequency for both respondents. Respondent R’s rate remained indicative of tachypnea, whereas Respondent S achieved a normal range, marked by improved breathing patterns.

Methods: This study used a descriptive method with purposive random sampling and a HAR-S anxiety level measuring tool. Results: The results of the application of 2 respondents carried out for 1 time in 3 days, with a duration of 10 minutes, showed the effect of reducing anxiety in children. Conclusion: There were differences and changes in anxiety levels in the respondents during the application of distractions, such as watching animated cartoons, in reducing anxiety levels during injection.

Method: Using a descriptive approach, the research adopts a case study design. Results: Both participants demonstrated a reduction in anxiety levels as per the Preschool Anxiety Scale (PAS) assessments conducted before and after the intervention. An. Ab’s anxiety level decreased from 4 (very severe anxiety) to 2 (moderate anxiety), while An. Ak’s anxiety level decreased from 3 (severe anxiety) to 1 (mild anxiety). Conclusion: The findings indicate that puzzle play therapy effectively reduces anxiety levels in preschool children, including those with severe and very severe anxiety levels. The author’s implementation of puzzle play therapy has proven to be successful in alleviating anxiety in children.
