Abstract

Most students still struggle to understand the learning material when it is delivered solely through verbal explanations without the aid of instructional media. However, the rapid advancement of technology provides valuable opportunities for educators to utilize engaging and interactive media to enhance students' interest and comprehension. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using interactive PowerPoint media to improve the understanding of Grade XI students in learning computer network concepts. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, with data collected through observation, questionnaires, and testing. The subjects of this study were 14 Grade XI students and one Information and Communication Technology (ICT) teacher. The findings indicate that the implementation of interactive PowerPoint within the cooperative learning model significantly improved students' understanding. Prior to using this media, the average student score was 47.8. After implementing the interactive PowerPoint, the average score increased to 75.4, demonstrating a substantial improvement in students’ comprehension of the computer network material.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of the Computer Networks topic in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) subject for Grade X at YAPIM Senior High School, Medan, through the application of the Discovery Learning model. The research method employed is Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted over two cycles. Each cycle included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The results showed a significant improvement in students' comprehension, indicated by an increase in the average test scores from 58 in the first cycle to 83.8 in the second cycle. These findings suggest that the application of the Discovery Learning model is effective in enhancing students' understanding of Computer Networks material.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan keterampilan pengajar dalam membuka dan menutup pembelajaran sebagai bagian penting dalam pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran yang efektif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan membuka dan menutup pembelajaran memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam menentukan keberhasilan kegiatan pembelajaran. Beberapa strategi yang digunakan pengajar dalam membuka pembelajaran meliputi: memberikan salam, menanyakan kabar, mengulas materi sebelumnya, memberikan motivasi, menyampaikan tujuan pembelajaran, dan mengaitkan materi baru dengan pengalaman atau pengetahuan yang telah dimiliki siswa. Sementara itu, dalam menutup pembelajaran, pengajar melakukan evaluasi dengan memberikan kesempatan tanya jawab, meminta siswa untuk menyimpulkan materi yang telah dibahas, serta memberikan latihan sebagai penguatan pemahaman. Tujuan dari keterampilan membuka dan menutup pembelajaran ini adalah untuk membantu pengajar dalam menciptakan suasana belajar yang kondusif, meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi, serta mengukur tingkat keberhasilan pembelajaran, baik dari sisi siswa maupun pengajar.
