Higher Order Thinking Skill adalah kemampuan berpikir kritis, logis, reflektif, metakognitif, dan berpikir kreatif yang merupakan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Higher Order of Thinking Skill (HOTS) merupakan suatu kemampuan berpikir yang tidak hanya membutuhkan kemampuan mengingat saja, namun membutuhkan kemampuan lain yang lebih tinggi, seperti kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill) siswa melalui guided inquiry di SMPN 2 Pilangkenceng di Kabupaten Madiun dengan materi sistem ekskresi. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui tes, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) siswa melalui test, tahap pra-siklus nilai rata-rata kelas 41,00 pada kategori HOTS rendah, pada siklus 1 60,00 pada kategori HOTS cukup, dan pada siklus 2 nilai rata-rata kelas mengalami peningkatan menjadi 68,33 pada kategori HOTS cukup. Ketuntasan belajar HOTS pada pra-siklus yaitu 6,67 %, siklus 1 13,33 % dan siklus 2 mengalami peningkatan menjadi 40 %. Berdasarkan analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Higher Order Thinking Skill siswa dapat meningkat melalui guided inquiry, namun belum optimal dalam pencapaiannya dan dalam kategori HOTS cukup. Disarankan perlu adanya tambahan siklus agar kategori HOTS siswa berada pada kategori tinggi atau sangat tinggi. The results showed an increase in the HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) test, the students through the stage of pre-cycle average value class 41.00 HOTS on the category is low, at cycle 1 60.00 on categories HOTS enough, and on cycle 2 the average value class experience increased be 68.33 on categories HOTS enough. Exhaustiveness learn the HOTS on pre-cycle that is 6.67%, cycle 1 and cycle 2 13.33% experienced an increase being 40%. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the Higher Order Thinking Skills students can be increased through guided inquiry and in kategorii HOTS enough. but it has not been optimal in its achievements and in the HOTS category enough.
