Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of school principals' managerial skills on the quality of Junior High Schools in Kedungwuni District, Pekalongan Regency. The research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive design, involving 110 teachers from various schools in the district. Data was collected using questionnaires with a Likert scale, and the analysis was performed using simple linear regression analysis. The findings indicate that school principals' managerial skills significantly influence school quality, contributing 61.7% to its improvement. The study further identified that the most significant dimension of managerial skills was human relations, followed by conceptual skills and technical skills. Based on these findings, it is recommended that school principals enhance their managerial skills, especially in technical aspects. Additionally, the local education authority should provide support in developing school principals' leadership capabilities. This study contributes to understanding how effective leadership can significantly improve school quality, offering valuable insights for educational policymakers and practitioners.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Negeri 1 Kedungwuni, Pekalongan Regency, covering aspects of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. This research employs a qualitative approach with a naturalistic type of research. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies, while data analysis involves data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing with source triangulation to ensure validity. The results show that the planning of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Negeri 1 Kedungwuni was carried out systematically through the preparation of curriculum administration, academic supervision programs, budgeting, and curriculum planning evaluation. Organizing was implemented by proportionally distributing tasks and delegating authority. The actuating phase involved motivating and directing all school members, while controlling was conducted through continuous evaluation and follow-up on curriculum implementation. The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Negeri 1 Kedungwuni was effective, as indicated by the significant improvement in national education report indicators, including literacy, numeracy, character, learning quality, and school climate. This study recommends the need for continuous teacher training and strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders to further optimize the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

The quality of public elementary schools in Ulujami District, Pemalang Regency has not yet reached optimal standards, partly due to variations in leadership, discipline, and school culture. This study aimed to examine the influence of principal leadership, work discipline, and school culture on school quality in public elementary schools in Ulujami District, Pemalang Regency. The research employed a quantitative design using a correlational approach. The sample consisted of 178 elementary school teachers selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring variables of principal leadership, work discipline, school culture, and school quality. The findings revealed that principal leadership had a positive and significant effect on school quality by 29.1%, with the vision and mission dimension contributing the most. Work discipline also showed a positive and significant influence on school quality by 38.2%, where the discipline in task implementation dimension had the greatest impact. School culture had a positive and significant effect on school quality by 42.3%, with the democratic culture dimension contributing the most. Furthermore, the combined influence of the three variables significantly affected school quality by 68.8%, with the student learning outcomes dimension showing the strongest impact. These results indicate that principal leadership, work discipline, and school culture significantly enhance school quality and student learning outcomes in public elementary schools in Ulujami District, Pemalang Regency.

Abstract

Academic supervision is a crucial element in school management, focusing on improving the quality of teaching and teachers’ pedagogical competence. This article aims to provide a comprehensive description of the planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up processes of academic supervision at SD Negeri 02 Limbangan, Ulujami District, Pemalang Regency. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, using data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that supervision planning is conducted cooperatively by involving teachers; the implementation takes place through classroom observations and reflective discussions, while the evaluation is carried out comprehensively by providing constructive feedback. The follow-up includes giving rewards as well as competency development programs through training. These findings highlight the importance of structured academic supervision in promoting teacher professionalism and improving the quality of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the management of academic quality improvement at SMP Negeri 1 Wiradesa, Pekalongan Regency. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects include the principal, vice principal for curriculum affairs, teachers, administrative staff, school committee members, and parents. Data collection techniques involve interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the management of academic quality improvement includes: (1) planning, through identifying academic quality needs, analyzing problems, formulating goals and targets, and preparing policies and budgets; (2) organizing, through the formation of an academic quality team, clear task distribution, regular coordination, and the involvement of parents and the school committee; (3) implementation, through directing and organizing activities, motivating the team, and monitoring program implementation; and (4) supervision, through structured evaluations, the use of appropriate assessment instruments, and follow-up on evaluation results. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for other schools in developing sustainable strategies for improving academic quality.

Abstract

The improvement of the quality of SD Negeri 07 Purwoharjo cannot be separated from the principal's leadership in managing the school. This study aims to describe the implementation of the principal’s transformational leadership style in enhancing school quality, covering aspects of idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual consideration. This research employed a qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data collection, condensation, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source triangulation. The results of the study show: (1) Idealized influence is implemented through role modeling, transparency, fairness, care, communication of the vision and mission, and openness; (2) Inspirational motivation is realized through giving awards, fostering a familial atmosphere, listening to aspirations, and encouraging open communication and collaboration; (3) Intellectual stimulation is applied by promoting innovation, openness to new ideas, facilitating discussions, providing training, and supporting learning communities; (4) Individual consideration is carried out through personal attention and support, personal interactions, mentoring, and open communication with school members.

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of low levels of teacher professionalism, which can hinder the quality of education in primary schools. The research aims to describe in depth the role of the principal as a manager in enhancing teacher professionalism at SD Negeri 07 Bantarbolang. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that the principal actively plans, implements, and evaluates various programs to improve teacher professionalism. Specific strategies include academic supervision, internal training sessions, and the development of a collaborative work culture focused on strengthening teacher competencies. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and methods, as well as member checks to enhance credibility. The study concludes that effective managerial leadership by the principal plays a significant role in improving teacher professionalism, thereby contributing positively to the overall quality of education.
